south central wi 2014 crawling schedule

hey zac. it's mike

the dingo kit version is what I started with. got a full rtr with batt and charger for 320. highly upgraded now little over $700
u can get the brand new kit for $260 ish. the downfall is the upper plastic 3 links. they like to bind and pull apart. I can make u the upper links for a 4 link just need the front and rear axle truss and large revo rod ends

or the newer trucks like the g6 come with 4 link already. but over ur $300

I'm sure with ur expertese in finding used stuff u can get what ur looking for online;-)

I have this in my cart now, I just need to wait for the november codes to show up...
TowerHobbies.com | RC4WD 1/10 Gelande II Kit w/Defender D90 Body Set

looks nice. don't know much about them but scott and rich have rc4wd trks. they seem to like them.

just 1 thing I noticed....tower lists about 10 parts for this truck. kinda what mnster was talking about

Hey zac. The gelande kit is kinda neat and has lots of scale touches to it but seems very top heavy. Crt02 picked one up and didn't really want to run it too much. I think the performance really suffers for many reasons, but if you want to just build something scale, its cool. Axial is going to have to up there game pretty soon. Scx10 platform is aging although you can get anything for it. Unless they make a big change, I think vaterra will be the new best thing for awhile. Unless the crawling segment of the hobby is too small for horizon and they don't keep it growing. I don't have the vaterra ascender yet, but I will. It has so much that axial doesn't.
That damn Chevy body though, ugh!:lmao:

Good to see you considering crawling

Thinking about going if I do go I would show up later 1 or 2 o-clock or something (2 hour drive for me and a friend) Giving thought to checking out Pewitts I've crawled Devils lake so much I know all the obstacles. Kinda down for some fresh terrain. More scaler type stuff.

Both bluffs have amazing lines the east bluff has some really large smooth climbs real slick rock claw your way to the top type stuff. I'll say its the better of the two bluffs. I start on the north end and crawl up the trail. The south end doesn't really offer anything. It has CCC trail which has some of the best views in the park but its very challenging and a dangerous trail to crawl do to the shear drop offs.

The west has more jagged technical lines once you get up all the stairs. It has shear drops and more danger. I've sent a few rigs tumbling off the side lol. But. that can be part of the fun.

Can't go wrong with either. Some of the best and easiest to access stuff is right off the path on the way down to the north beach. Just park at the first parking lot you see (before you get to the the ranger decal station) right at the entrance to the west bluff and walk down towards tumbled rocks. The majority of all the MWRCA comps used to be held in that location (to the right of the path) do to the close proximity to the parking lot. Then of course Tumbled rocks trail has some huge technical rocks. Can't go wrong anywhere you go bring lots of batteries and have lots of fun.

I know that rock in ur first pic. alot more challenging with trail trucks that it looks with that rig. 460bronco made a fool out of us with his wraith 2 weeks ago on that very rock.

last I herd we're meeting in baraboo 10ish and going to pewitts first. but, I got 2 new 3 cells and all day to kill so i'm up for anything.

is anyone coming with extra parts for a scx10? I havn't broken anything yet but just in case don't want an early exit.

Nice! yeah its one of my favorites for sure. That picture was the first time I was able to crawl all the way up like way back in 2005. Super class and MOA trucks make it seem easy. Wish I had my comp rig running 2.2's seem to push the technology in a big way its fun year after year how the stakes get raised and new lines become possible. I hit a wall when it came to grip though the quartzite is like polished glass in places. I've been out of competitive crawling for 4 years. With the new tires on the market it may finally be possible to climb some lines that have plagued my friends and I for decades.

i'm running scx10 with proline swampers. that rock I have to do alot of sideways crawling. will only go straight up in 1 spot and there's no place to go once ur at the top. mother nature created a nice trail to the left now. would be a nice spot for a timed run sat. fastest out the trail gets ???

I will be there with my scx10 with the stock take offs so I will have spares my wraith is in pieces on my shelf and will be a winter project lol
