Skaldiddog's "Progress"

What's in the black circle that the wire strippers are touching?

Thats his Dr. Gatlin & Mr. Fab juice. One sip & he goes from playin in The Barrel-O-Fun to making billet dootie match holders

Lookin forward to seein the highlighter in action J. Just a few short weeks to go.

Biased

No more band-aid?

Nope. That was my 801 Special for the weekend. It was a classy touch I agree.

I'm surprised you don't have a soldering jig for the battery plugs, lol

Too lazy.

See below. I got sick of knocking it over. Rosin core solder doesn't work for me. I need more flux.

Oh yeah! I'm looking forward to hainging out in the shade and sending tender loving texts to Vanilluh Gorilluh to make him feel good after missing such an awesome weekend. As my brother said many years back..."Children are overrated". He has two of them.

I buttoned it all back together last night. Still have not put it on the rocks yet. Her mini-diet (rear axles included) shaved off exactly 3oz, lowered the CG and increased front bias. I moved the shocks off of the chassis by 0.080" on each side to get a little more linear shock rate during twist. She's a plump 4lb 13oz now. New ESCs will harvest another 0.5oz vs the current ones and she'll be good to go for a while. Tonight I drive.

Funny!

It almost balances from the tip of the battery plate so you're not too far off of the mark.

Put down three packs last night and it surprised me how easily and consistently (thrice don't count) it traversed some of my most difficult resolution points. Need 10 more packs under variable temperatures (heat) to be sure, but I'm seeing all upside to the changes. Not often does this happen. Most changes are usually a compromise. Verdict still out since I'm a skeptic.

Like one of these?

Yeah but Joel's would also hold matches for the occasional love nugget while soldering, a scientific calculator for.....whatever the hell a scientific calculator DOES & a retractable mustache comb machined from billet just because a retractable billet mustache comb would be cool.

That's one seriously complex looking soldering jig. I didn't know they even existed. Guess my charred maple block and vice grips are seriously ghetto. I might need to make one to match my soldering iron holder. Hmmmm. Either way the DMH (Dootie Matches Holder) is hard to beat.

I never thought I'd use one, but I picked this little guy up a couple months back and it's been working really well so far.

Both sets of alloy bars move...they're spring loaded so you could clamp one wire between one set and another between the others in order to join them in the middle.

I'd have to check on mine, but I believe the hole pictured with the yellow plug in it above would hold a micro deans just fine.

Ocho Vodos

I knew for some time I needed a couple more sets of Vodos but was dreading the 5.5 hrs each set takes. So I put my head on the block and cranked out two sets yesterday in 11hrs. Where did my weekend go? I'm getting a system down to make it a little easier but dangit it still takes the same amount of time. After Nats I'll play with some hybrid tires as I mentioned before. First up, Rovers on silver sidewalls (Voodovers). These are good tires but I wear them out almost too fast to make the effort worth it. It's like running 10K mile tires on your car. The performance is good but at some point you go back to radials.

BRSL Minis are on Holmes Hobbies site

Get them while they're hot. These things are going to kick butt.

Thanks a bunch John for bringing these to the market. For the first time ever we have a proper crawler specific ESC. Awesome.

Cheers,

J
