To Our Loyal Customers:
Over the years we have been pleased to provide you with the finest NASCAR plastic model kits featuring the most popular drivers. Regrettably however, over the last several years we have faced increasing licensing costs that are greater than our increase in sales. Despite our best efforts to secure reasonable licensing terms for NASCAR model kits in general, and the Car of Tomorrow in particular, we have been unable to develop a program that allows us to market the product at a viable price point. Consequently, we will not be issuing a kit on the Car of Tomorrow and, in fact, will be exiting the NASCAR business altogether. We will discontinue all sales of NASCAR plastic kits by February 28, 2009.
This has been an extremely difficult decision to make as we are fully aware of the avid fan base of NASCAR model kit builders and truly appreciate your support over the years. We trust you will find other model kits in our line that will be of interest and that will provide you with the model building enjoyment you desire.
Please note that we still have inventory of selected models as shown below. Check with your favorite dealer to see if they are carrying any of the items. If they are out of stock, they can obtain any of these items for you very quickly through their distributor.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen a COT model yet, not that I would have done any of them any way, NASCAR has really embarrassed themselves the last few years over and over, I wouldn't want to build anything that represents them in any way.

Yes, the loss of the VW bodies was for the same reasons. I am a very avid fan of Nascar, but over the past few years, my opinion of Nascar (not the drivers or teams) has become very dismal. It is mostly because of the all mighty greenback. The "NASCAR GREED" as I would call it, has put the prices of race tickets out of the hands of the average race fan. The Nascar products are also way over-priced as well and this is mostly due to high licensening costs. Nascar is sealing it's own demise in the future due to high prices. Nascar will have to reverse many of it's policies if it is to survive the coming future. If Nascar dose not change, may they rest in peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As soon as I saw the title, I knew it was a licensing issue. I'm inclined to think it's also one of the Team Associated SC8 is so damn expensive.

no the vw bodies was because vw went apesh!t over ppl usuing there logo, desingns(rc bodies) stuff like that with out official permission from vw. HPI was one of the companies they were ordered to destroy all molds of the v-dub body and any remaing stock. ckrc has brought the body back bc even though its a bug and every1 can tell it is its name has nothing to do with vw so technically its ok for them to have that body in production. i think im rite about what i said but im sure i got something wrong lol so if i did can somebody correct me thx

It's also too bad NHRA is going the same way.

Actually, Losi/Horizon had to pull all of their non-licesned bodies and most of the HPI bodies actually had VW's approval until recently it seems....

We were talking with the Tamiya reps at the scale nats last year about the next high lift body (we now know this as the tundra)

I was asking if it was going to be another GM body, and they stated we probably wouldn't see that anytime soon, because they want to much for the licensing..

It seems silly really, IMO its advertising.
