Renting to own... My son's first ASCENDER!

Andrew dragged me out to the garage and forced me at nerfpoint to get some work done on his truck. So... Not wanting my dome split by some hot foam, I diligently began dremeling the firewall and transmission tunnel to clearence the gcm forward motor.

This was a quick hack job to keep his trigger finger from squeezing... I think it worked? For now...

Body needs to slide forward a bit more but to do that I need to fire up the soldering iron and clock the motor connections at 90 degrees. But that will be on another day.

"But Andrew, if you shoot me... Nobody can finish your truck!"
He fell for it ;)

Nerf guns have gotten me a few long winters up here. The truck looks sharp. Kids clearly not settling for stock...

Thank ya.
Cage is only mocked up for the general idea. It would only fit right it I chopped the last section off like browneye did a while ago. And the main deck horizontal tube doesn't line up with the body line anyway.
I have another cage in mind for pretty cheap but no clue if it fits better than the ascender cage.

And no he never settles for stock. No idea where he gets that from... ;)

Have you looked at the Proline rear cage? They sell it as an accessory. I'm considering it for my power wagon.

Nice looking old cheby. You're making me want to make an old square body now!"thumbsup"

I know, it's tempting to build myself a fully leafed version with a full bed.
It was a damn shame when I noticed the cage covers all the work I did on the cab wall haha
Not sure about the proline cage. A little pricey to pull the trigger without measurements. The one I have in mind is only $20 so I wouldn't cry if it doesnt work. Last resort is one of the SD scaler guys here (locally) is a master of cages. Not cheap but he would get it right.
Almost ready for paint when it stops raining here. Rare moment!

Edit: The Proline sight has all the measurements on it's info page.

Also if your looking for a good place to crawl, I was out at Lake Calavera and it has some great crawling for out and back trail runs with some good mix of moderate and challenging rocks.

I had a sneaking suspicion... Thanks gents!
Just not sure about that top hoop how it leans forward for proline cabs. This rc4wd Square body is... Square.
But I could figure that out and put spacers at the bottom.

Lake calavera? I will look into that! Also I hear parts of santee are nice and that's just 10 minutes up the freeway for me.
*calavera is in Carlsbad, a little far for me but if I am in the area I will keep it in mind. I'm way down in El Cajon. Thanks though!

Still waiting for this wet weather to let up to get it painted. But its a nice change!

**just noticed ALL OF MY PICS ARE GONE!!?!?!
went to tinypic where they are hosted amd thier site wont load...

Dang thats lame. I dont see any of your pictures either.

EDIT: it looks like TinyPics servers might be down at the moment http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/tinypic.com.html

Yeah that's where I looked.
Hopefully it's not permanent. Thats a LOT of pics to re host.
Sucks to feel the same pain of those who went through the photobucket fiasco last year.

I know many of us feel your pain. I lost all of my years and years of pictures from my first crawler to the one I had when it went down. It wouldn't be bad if you could download them yourself but they don't allow it without a paid account.:x Now with google photos I back them all up on there."thumbsup"

Baby steps.... Heh. Because... Baby...

Need to see what everyone does to move the dash up a smidge. Because now the gcm forward motor hits the dash after I already dremelled out a gaping hole in the firewall hahaha... *groan*
ALMOST there... So close...

Looks great. Baby steps are better than no steps? [emoji2]

Forgot to mention I blew apart the custom CODYBOY transfer case last night to see why I lose front drive under load.
Tightened a grub screw on the input gear. Buttoned it all back up. Gave it a turn of the spur and... DOH! Forgot to tighten the front output grub screw!!!!
Well it's pretty easy to blow apart again thanks to Ernie's design. I might need to redesign the t case platform and integrate the battery mount with some body mount threaded holes.
Current mount is a couple mm too thick and battery raises interior making the body sit too high.

Fehhh... Hard bodies...

DING! DING! DING! DING! DING!

Boat style skids integrated to the t case and electronics deck.
Sort of an all-in-uno solution to inner fenders, body mounts, and battery tray.
Thanks to Ernie for the version 1 that made it easy for me to update to version 2 ;)
