Renting to own... My son's first ASCENDER!

Its looking excellent Shinchu, that Chevy is sweet. I know you a Ford guy, but I gotta say that is well worth the venture in to blasphemous terrain.

Andrew and I both agree with you Nate.
Still trying to wrap my noggin around the cross rc cage.
If I can't do it (and I hardly know what can't means), I migjt toss the bed on after I super Bob the rear. Like, maybe even move the fender arches forward.

Smog, thank ya kindly.
Funny thing is, we really are a Chevy family. The 79 was the odd exception. And my moms fairmont wagon that left us stranded countless times. But thats another story... ;)

Long story short, that fairmont is why I have never ever ever bought myself a ford. Bleh.

While I was blasting through puddles with the yeti in my backyard, andrew was peacefully crawling his truck up on our rockpile... Took this pic himself with his iPod.

Is it bragging if I say hes got one hell of an eye???
(And yes that's enough natural moss to rival smiggins folly!)

Okay Ascender Fam, after what seems like an eternity, I have done a few stuff to the chebby.

Stuff #1:
A windur! Couldnt find a slide open from the donors in the scrap yard but I rekon I could cut me one outta my cousins slidin glass door!

Okay not really its just a piece of 2 dollar acrylic from hobby lobby. Trimmed with styrene and held in with testors clear window model cement.
I will go in later and paint the trim black for scale accuracy.
I'm pretty happy with my first attempt!

Stuff #B:
Painted door trim silver and forgot to take a pic.

Here is another pic of stuff #1!!!!1

Lots more stuffs coming eventually...

Finished the back windur trim!
Painted front and back window trim black, side window trim is silver.
Looked up some reference photos and looks to be dependent on trim levels. So I went with a mix.

Pix!

Oh and I went ahead and just glued everything in with medium CA glue. The testors clear was a soggy elmers school glue mess.
CA worked better and its not going ANYWHERE.

Looking good as usual. I haven't done much witrh my Ascenders recently. Time I did a makeover on my 1st one maybe.

Hey cool. I see a Falken AT3W spare on there. Who is making those?

The kid must be excited about getting outfitted?! His rig is looking trail ready

The falkens come on the old barrage v1 with 1.9 steelies. They look nice but not a ton of grip.

Yeah he hasnt seen it with these goodies on it yet. Going to pick him up from school in a few, gonna suprise him when he gets home.
Well, he saw what I ordered I just don't think he knew what I was doing with it ;)

Ah, it's an ECX tire. Looks like they actually made an effort to sipe them pretty well. I imagine they must have a pretty small OD given they are off of a Barrage

Haha no I forget specs but its close to the trx4 canyons.

I will snap a comparison pic later.

Traxxas trail canyon on bottom. Ecx wildpeaks on top

Working on axial light bucket brake lights with heyOK controller...

Hot diggity, the details on there are remarkable. Those marker lights going electric?

Is the pic above not showing up?
Its working for me but just incase, yes its got the rc4wd blazer light kit wired up neatly.
I have plans for the brake lights too. Using a heyOK brake circuit and some axial light buckets.

I let Andrew pick from my stash of decals and decide where they go.
CODYBOY DESIGNS obviously goes top center ;)

Its about 98% done at this point.
Rubber mirrors are on the way, and I need to attach and wire the brake light buckets.
But yeah, THAR IT BE!

So about 2 weeks ago we took the chebby out to the backyard rockpile for a shakedown, and 2 minutes into the fun, the front output on the transfer case gave up again.

So I have been thinking... With all this talk about overdrive lately... CODYBOY did you build that t case with front OD?
If so, that could explain why as we drive from the garage to the rock pile on pavement about 60 feet with a quick 90 degree right turn..
Would this cause the gears to get dorked up?
Last time i cracked it open the gears were fine, just needed to tighten some grub screws.

Thanks Ernie!

Hey Chris, it has been a while since I built that so I'm not positive, but I don't think I did it with overdrive. I would bet one of the grub screws loosened up again. Sorry!
