I will be ordering a Base Camp kit this week and was considering a Reef's 400SC to point the thing. Since this is my first trail truck I am not sure if it's enough, too much or just right. Any thoughts?

I'll make a guess and say you will be vary happy with it
don't forget the bec though
or better yet get a direct power version and the little adaptor thing that's goes between the battery and esc so ya don't have to mess with wiring

Reefs servos are built for them to THEIR SPECTs. Yes AFGRC builds them, as well as the Shifts, and NSDRCs etc, AFGRC is one of the largest servo manufacturers in CHY-Na. They make servos for dozens and dozens of companies.

Reefs specs are superior to those of the off the shelf AFGRC servos. And Reefs does their own software/programming on the servos.
So while they may not be the servo Manufacturer, which neither is Spektrum, Futaba, HiTec and dozens of others, they do the rest in house.
I have been very happy with using Reefs Servos, and yes, you are supporting a USA Company with Reefs, and one that supports US based events.

Its a FAST Servo, may not need that much speed. For that cost, and considering as a trail truck, off road is the thing and you may find your self crawling a few roots, have you looked into the 555? Its a slower servo but for a crawler/trail truck fast servo speed is redundant. its steel gears so it can take abuse well, and has more power, and runs up to 7.4v, maybe more so maybe a better BEC optioned servo.
Just a thought.

I'm relatively certain that NSDRC doesn't use AFGRC, but instead use Kingmax.

Either way, I've had terrible experience with Reefs both their Servo's and their customer service. I bought 3 RAW800LP's, 2 failed in the first 10 minutes of use (in stock config, run from a castle BEC), the third I sold before use, and the poor buyer who had it, nerfed it in 40 minutes.

For the upcharge of their items that you can find better for cheaper. I'll never use them again.

Why Reefs ?? They are relabeled AGFrc servos

Get those --> https://www.agfrc.com/index.php?id=2535

Same thing only half the price :mrgreen:

That’s a great servo. Been running one in my Gmade Komodo Double Cab for years. Just to point out, it’s not a brushless servo in case that’s a deal breaker. Nonetheless, I’ve had zero issues with mine and it’s quieter than some of my brushless servos.
