Reaper Sand Rail project

Stopped for a quick bash session at a not very cool spot I saw... I need to find some sand up here.

She runs super cool at 15/54 0.8 Metric pitch. I think I could honestly run maybe 18 or 21 with the fan on fulltime. Temps never got above 80 degrees at a single points. Only damage was a few screw scrapes on the cage and a broken plastic C-Cup which I had intented to swap to aluminum eventually anyway.

I'm going to hook up the logger, throw the sand setup on and see what pinion I can safely run up to. I'm real happy with the torque on the 15t though. Wheelies on demand. I need to sort out some sort of wheelie bar to protect the cage....

In the sand it won't matter I guess.

Any news on your build? This is sweet - my Reaper will be here soon and I'm definitely using your for reference. Also - do you have an album with all of the photos since some of them don't display on the thread?

I still have it. No news really since I added the 3800 4-pole. It will be for sale soon as I will be building a 1/5 scale baja bug. I'd expect a 6 week+ wait time on your reaper unless it was in stock when you ordered it.

I recommend avoiding FLM parts, horrible customer service. Go with the Jato RPP arm setup front and back. Get your track as wide as you can. I can't recommend a good CVD because they all sucked for this amount of travel....

If it wont sell, I'll likely shelve it and finish it with an interior, and I have 2 1/10 scale V8s for the back I could build. Its really a fun build to look at.

But size will always prevail on the sand... My 1/5 scale TCS conversion just rips apart anything smaller so I'm going to build one based off a 5b Super Flux with the big castle system and 8s and a baja bug body.

I got my rail and the tranny holes seem to be shifted so that the wheels and tranny will be slightly pointing one direction. Dd you have this issue? Thinking I can just open one of the holes a bit. Also going to do the protrac wide suspension. I want to do like you and have a dirt setup as well. Do you like the flatirons on there and the 1.9 / 2.2 combo?

Sounds like they screwed it up on the jig. They don't sell many of these things. They are one offs. each one is different.

I'd send it back. You can try to work around it but you'll always have trim problems etc IMO.

Your powertrain will be shifted one way and your front the other. Not a good thing.
