Reaper Sand Rail project

The MIP cup set screw got stuck on the transmission driveshaft. I tried drilling it out, cutting it off etc. Said screw it and ordered a REM billet aluminum trans case and swap in the VXL gearing which is identical to the Monster Truck line from traxxas FYI. They market stronger gearing but there is zero difference... :lmao:

beautiful piece and the best part? It seals the transmission on the bottom unlike the stock trans. This is necessary for sand running. I'm going to run the plastic spur gear for a bit. The metal HR one was insanely loud and also soft.

SWEET buggy man, hey i noticed in the video that your steering link tower on the left was wobbling.

and cut it close to the volleyball net much?:lmao::badger:

Thanks! This things built like a shelf queen but driven hard as hell. I want it to be just like the expensive rigs you see out at glamis. "thumbsup"

Yup I fixed it. I have yet to give the go ahead on paint on this thing, so when I do I'll break it down and threadlock things that need it. I need to get my CVD situation figured out. I've bought 2 sets of CVDs from FLM because of their lack of email communication and customer service. I emailed them again and their distributor so hopefully I can get some cups. I've spent $250 with them on parts too.

And yes I nearly cut that Volleyball post in two. lol

Stripped the original paint off due to improper prep. Car is now black with aluminum suspension and transmission.

Fast Lane Machine is HORRIBLE don't do business with them. I've got 2 sets of FLM extended arms and 2 sets of CVDs that are busted. They refuse to respond to emails despite their lifetime warranty on their products.... A distributor is even involved now and even he can't get a response. I've been trying to get in touch since June....

Here is a comparison of Jato CVDs, MIP Rustler CVDs, FLM CVDs, stock Stampede CVDs....

Anyway. I painted the frame black a while back, and painted the panels today and wired up some lighting....

I wish I could find a 1.9 sand tire.....

A 1.9 sand paddle would be awesome. It looks as if your front lights will get ripped off in the first rollover. But the whole car looks great.

RC10 styled ones are the only ones out there.... They actually just rotate around the front bar. Works perfect. I have some SMD 5050 1 watt LEDs I'm considering placing underneath them but they don't look scale AT ALL. But they will give me 30' of vision "thumbsup"

51 mph out of flat irons. Is that a world record?

Good news: This thing handles VERY well on the street

Bad news: Pinion/Spur combo is getting temps up there.

I need a different combo.

Tom at RC4WD had some new 1.9 sand tires displayed at Nats this past weekend "thumbsup"

Sick rig BTW

HELL YES. I have been waiting for that. I was looking at RC10 ribbed wheels as an option :lmao:

Thanks. I have some rear suspension limit straps I need to install. Rear shocks cause too much travel for any CVDS I've foumd unless someone has a solution.

The dogbones bind

51mph gps verified and the 5700kv combo was 170 degrees and on the STREET.

I need to find a better motor combo for this thing and the sand. I'm running 3s 18t 87t Spur. Dissappointed by the mph and heat.

Ideas?

Time to change up the esc/motor setup in this. Can a Mamba Monster be mounted to a stampede trans? I have a spare 2650kv and 2 Xerun ESCs....

look into the traxxas (made by castle) motor out of the spartan on 4s+. you can gear it to the moon and have enough power to break every part on that thing

I need some help/opinions. Considering the weight of this chassis with battery, 7lbs 10 ounces.... I picked up a MMP ESC and a 4 pole 1410 3800kv motor. The 5700 C36 wasn't cutting it. What do you guys recommend running gearing wise with 3s in the sand. I keep a spot temp with me on the sand at all times and run up to 5800mah 3s.

Castle Creations | Neu-Castle 1410 Motor

I'd like to get her running tomorrow and get some footage of this rail doing what it should do best. I also got full travel out of the shocks, removed the suspension straps and made sure the driveshaft cups dont bind at full droop.

Lets make this sucker hit stupid speeds on the sand, I need as much power as possible out of this chassis. My aluminum Trans will not fit a 41mm Monster or Xerun Can so I have to stick with 36mm 4pole setups and gearing. With the 2400 I read I can use up to 4s batteries?

What do you guys think?

Awesome build"thumbsup"Is this chassis still available and where?

Thanks. The company went under I believe, it tooks 8 weeks for me to get the chassis as well and communication was nil. The dealer IDeal-RC is still around though. Be warned, they aren't cheap. $299...
