WoW! What an event! I can't put it into words for my friends who could not go. It was simply - "Off tha hook" !!!!!!! You guys definitely put the "Challenge" in RC OVerland Team Challenge
I think if any T-Shirts are made in the future, there should be something added.
It should say "RCOTC #1 - I was there. It happened. It was off tha hook!" Because anyone who was not there will never know how insane the first one really was!
I had a great time judging for my two new friends, Rob and Gretchen. What a great team! And watching that Lil Sammi do work, - Priceless "thumbsup"
If I had to give an award for best winches, it would hands down go to them. Nothing like 20+ft of sturgeon line when you're stuck between a rock and a hard place! If Rob would have had more trans parts, I have no doubt they would've finished. Nothing like on course tranny swaps! Great people, great rigs, and thanks for thinking of us and bringing back the Taco Bell "thumbsup"
Seeing the woods "full" of scalers was just a dream come true to me. There wasn't a bored or unchallenged driver out there on course. Sure we had to wait at bottlenecks, but thats where all the action was at! Pure liquid R/C Adrenaline was flowing like the mississippi 8) .
It was also really Awesome to see Parker on the other end of the stick, enjoying someone else's event. It was definitely a challenge and watching Parker and Thom do teamwork, was great! Better build a servo winch Parker!
And my wife really had a great time judging Mike and Sam. Those guys put in some work! And burned a few 7955's along the way! She also enjoyed seeing two of her future winches (QuickSand) doing work without breaking a sweat. Awesome winches and they go great with a Rock Armor bumper!
Thanks again Martin, Matt, and anyone else who helped put on this official first RCOTC! Next time i will be more careful and do less rock hopping and injuring of myself. It's hard to resist because I'm a mountain boy at heart and have the spirit of a Big Horn Sheep Ram! I am glad that I was able to hobble down and run the last 20 or so gates for fun. And also glad I got to drive on that crazy Manzanita wood bridge that Matt made!
Thanks again Area916 - You guys rock "thumbsup"
I think this pic of the rock graffitti sums up the love/hate relationship many of the drivers had with the technical section referred to as a "winch-fest"
