RC Overland Team Challenge Comp #1 January 15, 2012 Folsom Rodeo Grounds

My OH My  I want to thank you everyone who helped set up and judge, YOU guys know who you are! It wouldn't have happened without you guys. I was a little surprised when I walked up the hill and saw a LOT of guys ready to ROCK! This was our first official challenge and want to thank you all for understanding that. We will be tweeking a few things for the next one on Feb 15 at Lake Amador. Sign up thread will be up this week.

We had a lot of feedback and are taking those into consideration. If anyone has more who we did not talk with feel free to PM or post.

I'll have the scores/times up tomorrow. But we pulled the raffle tickets during our dinner. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU THANK THE VENDORS WHO DONATED TO THIS EVENT. Honestly I wasn't expecting anything close to what we received.

NORMALLY WE WOULD ONLY GIVE OUT VENDOR SWAG TO THOSE WHO STAY TO THE FINISH BUT TODAY WE KNOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO BEDTIME. SO THIS TIME ONLY WE ARE DOING IT THIS WAY BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE YOUR TICKET. PM ME WITH YOUR WINNING TICKET AND WE'LL SEE HOW TO GET IT TO YOU. Unclaimed prizes will be given away at the next event.

Do work Parker.

Complete transmission swap in under 5 mins,"thumbsup" resoldering wires, 40 mins:shock: If it wasn't for Rick, we would still be soldering, Thanks, Rick!

Thom K and Parker.

Team work. Lil' Lexus didn't need a stinkin' winch, until then! That was the first of many vertical climbs made. I'm a believer in servo winches now!

tom k doing work for two :lmao:

Hmmm, I do recall you sitting next to me in the DNF canoe. :flipoff: LOL!

Wow, that looks familiar!

All the credit to my speedy transmission change goes to you, my friend. I'm proud to have joined the exclusive "OSTR" group. (On Stage Tranny Repair).

Thank you 916 for a fun day. I'm sure ya'll learned a lot and finding the poetic line between "challenge" and "difficulty" is sometimes a psychedelic, ompa lumpa invested mushroom trip. I was very impressed with your first event and look forward to the next.

Axial "Go Overland, Do Adventure" Team Drivers, Thom K. and myself had a blast. Our SCX-10's never let us down and what eventually ended our challenge was Lil' Lexus running out of mah. Over 6000 mah and to come up shy by 4 trailmarkers, stings. I was glad to see Thom K. cross the finish line and give us what these events are all about, finishing!

If your into scale r/c or you want to get into scale r/c, than there is no better platform to build off of or RTR scaler than the Axial SCX-10 product line. There is a reason the Axial SCX-10 is the Official Truck of the RECON G6 Challenge; they take you on an adventure and get you back!

I beat the piss out of the new 1.9 SSZ wheel from Vanquish Products during the OTCC and I could not ask for a stronger wheel. The SSZ is a 3 piece wheel design that looks amazing, but good looks is easy for the best aluminum r/c wheel maker on the planet, but the performance of the SSZ is what suprised me. I never lost a bead on any tire and Lil' Lexus has never looked so good conqering stage obstacles.

Don't wrap those SSZ's with anything else but 1.9 Pit Bull Rock Beasts. The Official Tire of the RECON G6 Challenge is simply the best all around tire on the market. Several winch lines, Lil' Lexus turned into to Pit Bull lines by driving them. Mud, sand, water, rock, tarmac or any combo of the five; Pit Bull Rock Beasts handles them all, "laughing".

Thank you Axial Racing, Vanquish Products, and Pit Bull Tires for a formula that gives every driver the opportunity to finish!

A big "THANK YOU" to my teammate, Thom K., we gave it hell and still asked for more. We will be ready for our next OTCC.

On behalf of Team Axial Go Overland, Do Adventure, Thank you, Mike See for stagebudding for us. You were a great help and really made our adventure. Our hats are off to you, sir, thank you, we could not have done it with you. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Congrats to all who finished. A very difficult day and you all earned every trail marker to see the finish line! "thumbsup"

Thanks, again, to all the 916 crew for all their hard work. I had fun, laughed, cried, and bled. It was a good day.

Thank you Axial Racing

What a day!
Thank you to all who made it out, it was a huge turn out. Many different rigs, to push its limits too in this great CHALLENGE "thumbsup"

I didn't get too many pics, mostly of the bottle necked section on the rocks.. HAHAHA how wonderful is that, driving along through a couple gates thinking " this is easy" and then BAM reality hits and as soon as you know it your putting your rig through a real challenge. I could hear those poor little winch's whining and screaming as they were being used and abused it was a great sight too see all the rigs workin it. I also heard great tips and conversation around me regarding driving tips, that was neat too hear all the different approachs.

Enjoy the pics:mrgreen:

So out of all these pics, I could have taken hundreds more. I think I will next time, because this section is only like gates 20-26 maybe a little more, out of 180? I mean this was huge and these pics dont do justice lol.

Man......you guys suck, that looks like it was brutal but hella fun, had a good time with the wife and kids for their bday, but not like the fun you all had, next time for sure;-)

Nice pictures Dan, I'm glad there is some video because I missed all the action being in camp taking care of business. But I'm me and Matt's name came up a few times and not in a good way 8)

I can't believe listing all the donations I left out our friend Propane (George) from Redding who made up a bunch of tow straps to give away to anyone who needed them and they went fast! Thank you very much George "thumbsup"

You guys who got some and USED them make sure to let him know "thumbsup"

Right on. It was great to see all those yellow straps attached to rigs and being used in some of those crazy sections.

Congratulations driver, great job finishing this brutal course.

FYI the times wiill go with a driver. In case a team does not have both drivers the solo driver will continue with their pervious time. I'm sure not everyone will be able to make all the stops and this way the drivers who do will have a chance towards the final series points. We are working on a point system which we will have before the next event. Hopefully sooner than later.

Feel free to pm me or call or text me if you have any questions.

I couldn't write it out with the times and everything to look good. Hope everyone can read it ok.

Took the words outta my mouth... Thank you 916 for an awesome adventure. It was great driving with my good friend and teammate Brian Parker; it's been too long since we drove together. Most importantly a big THANK YOU to AXIAL RACING for your support and unbelievably agile and capable vehicles. "thumbsup"

I want to thank everyone who helped out, everyone who made the trip and put there driving skills, trail skills, rigs, and them selves to the test.. You all are The Scaler Community, your support and participation of the hobby and its progression is awesome. This was shown not only by the amount of participants, but the vendors who stepped up to the plate to sponsor this event with quality trail proven products. We had a blast and thank you.

This next event will have much faster team turn over, less time trail bossing, and the course is more centrally located, so this means way less hiking for those who's bones hurt from the Rodeo Grounds massive lay out. Thanks for all the feed back ... It will only get better from here.."thumbsup"

It is always great to see friends and meet new people as well. Everytime is a goodtime. See you all in February....hopefully, if this one didn't scare you all away..

This was what everyone who probably thought for the first 20 or so gates I thought this was suppose to be a challenge. BAM! Come down the hill to this.

Opps I guess matt and I were writing pretty much the same thing. Just saw this today
