Rant Thread

About time you took control of your house.

^^^ This. I know "easier said than done" but sounds like you deserve some degree of resolve... some degree of compromise. I mean... you can't blame her if you haven't laid down any basic expectations. If there's no consequence then she has no motivation to curb her bad habits. Also... If it's really this bad, I'd think that your wife would try to also intervene. You and she are ( should be) a team. Best of luck. I feel for ya'.

"Get out" is a simple and perfect resolution in theory lol. Wife sure as hell ain't going to go for that or this wouldn't be an ongoing thing. I agree to a point that a man shouldn't be miserable in his own home but since marriage carries some compromise, it's up to him to have an honest talk with her and for them both to come to an agreement on how best to deal with the situation. If wife won't take it seriously or defends MIL, then that gets into an entirely different issue. It's his wife's responsibility to recognize that this is an issue and to subsequently help. If she isn't on board and guy just kicks Mothra to the curb, then he's gonna have a whole new kind of misery to contend with.

My mother in law

I came home and when I walked in the front door I immediately smelled the scent they add to natural gas . . . she never turned off the stove - the burner wasn't on but you could hear gas coming out . . .

I came home one day and went to the kitchen . . . heard the sound of running water . . . went into the bathroom and water was gushing out of the sink

At the dinner table she can't seem to utter a single word unless her mouth is totally stuffed with food

There is no way you will have control of the TV when she's in the house - she has a line up of shows she HAS to watch

She enjoys reading the bible and she is always quick to tell me how I'm going to hell for . . . practically everything . . . when I arrive in hell and look around - as long as she's not there, then hell really won't be as bad as they say

Her "visits" are supposed to last for a week - about four times a year - the last "visit" was more than three weeks

And if you don't agree with her political viewpoints then she will let you know you are unpatriotic, stupid, and irresponsible and people like me are the reason why prices are so damn high

She complains she doesn't like our food but she's always eating plenty of it - lots of it

She falls asleep all over the house and she snores

When she wants to go somewhere she expects me to stop working (I work from the house half of my time) and take her to the library, to the drug store, or to the senior center at the park

And she's due for another visit soon

I now have three 750ml bottles of Knob Creek, 100 proof, inside my desk cabinet

Wish me luck

She sounds like a typical, hypocritical Bible thumper. I'd rather go to the fantasy land called Hell rather than spending any time in Heaven next to miserable ****s like her.

Respect your elders, but don't be their bitch. She's got you by the balls and you need to start putting your foot down.

What's your wife say about it?

My debit card just got hacked for the 3rd time since being with PNC. I was never hacked before that, but I understand that was years ago and hacking has become easier despite all the "safeguards" in place. It pisses me off that the banks do nothing to these people. No wonder they keep doing it and getting away with it!

Thankfully the Philadelphia scumbags didn't even get $100 before PNC called me.

tell me about it. my card info was being used at a hotel DOWN THE STREET. pre-paid for 4 nights... called the sherrif and i said they are there RIGHT NOW lets go get he perp! nope. cant do that sorry. i guess laws aren't enforced anymore?

sorry Jato. have fun resetting all your online order info :(

That sucks Jato, good thing they caught it fast though.

Mine got hit last year, REALLY sucks. We got hit for $2500 through USPS, my guess is that they bought a mail truck. We got our money back, but it took a week, luckily we keep some cash on hand.

The wife and I had words about this too. It was around 2Pm when I tied using my debit card at my LHS and was declined. I texted my wife and she said that she'd been getting texts from the bank all morning, but was going to check into them when she got home.

I called the bank, had to give them every shred of personal data I had so they would discuss my account getting hacked with me. They told me someone had changed my wife's debit card PIN that morning (first text my wife had gotten), and that is how they were able to pull so much money out. I asked what information they had to change my wife's PIN, and they said they just needed the card number...

Seems like banks just consider this kind of crap as the cost of doing business instead of tightening up their security.

Well hey... you know. They can write it off, pass any costs onto the clients/customers.... and pass on the earnings to shareholders amiright?

What if bankers themselves are these so called hackers.

Thanks guys! It's so effing frustrating! It makes me want to start skimming cards, but I know, with my luck, I'd be the one guy they actually went after.

From the outside looking in to seems like easy money with little risk.

I had my card cloned earlier this year. They used it in several businesses here locally, including in a casino. Should be easy to catch the asshole since casinos have tons of cameras. No idea if they ever caught them though.

Here in Pennsylvania they don't go after the hackers unless you, personally, press charges. Only then does the bank give info to the police.

Not a rant... not yet. But... sister and family just landed at the airport. This may indeed be quite an interesting few days...

-placeholder for future updates-

Update/ edit #1:

"So we're at the airport... just got in. Do you wanna come meet us here?"
"Well... You'e renting a car, right?"
"yes."
"Well then seems it would make more sense for you to just come to the house since it's right next to the hotel that you're staying at and also about 30 mins from the airport."
"Ah... Okay!"

Update/ edit #2:

"So I forgot to mention that 'Billy' is sick with a bad cold right now."
"Uh... Sorry bout that. So what's that mean?"
"Well we need to get him some medicine and put him to bed for a nap."
"No prob. Just let us know when y'all wanna get together."
* Ten minute long babbling ensues... "Oh thank you thank you!! I thought you'd be mad and that's so great that blah blah blah..." For ten goddamned minutes!

I'm n appreciative that they came down here to Texas... really I am. But the whole dramatic and clueless shit gets to me pretty fast. And my nephew is in his 20's for Christ's sake! Are most millennial's really this helpless and coddled?? I mean... He could suck it up or shit... You could even leave lil' Billy back at the hotel to go night night! Tbh I'm glad that we're postponing things till tonight anyway and I'm being very nice to sis but we aren't even an hour into this 4 day visit... surely more to come lol.

Shitty B-movie horror comedies!

I swear if another one of my relatives, tries to make me watch army of darkness, or the T.V series I’m gonna hide my T.V and tell them I’ve sold it. I’ve been forced to watch almost every re-release of army of darkness, and it was shitty the first time, and it’s been shitty the last 3-4 times I’ve had to endure its Halloween screenings. I tell my cousins it’s a shitty movie and stop bringing it to my house, to which he replies “it’s got a cult following”, so I say “well go join the cult, and stop ****ing with my T.V time”, cause I’d rather watch a car show, or the Edmonton oilers, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

^LOL, that's why I'm glad none of my in-laws like me, except for Jim (who lives with us)

My wife's parents are deceased, and the one brother-in-law (my best man, is deceased), his wife and kids don't like my viewpoints, so they're not welcome at my house.

Other drivers...

So, I am seeing a trend around where I live.... The speed limit is 55mph, the car in front of me is bouncing between 40 - 50 mph in areas where I cannot pass (double yellow or on-coming traffic). In areas that it is legal/safe to pass they speed up to 60mph, then drop back down to 45-ish in the no-pass areas. What the hell is up with is? I am not trail gating, until I am committing to pass I leave three - four car lengths between us. Then, when I get to where I can pass they'll speed up to where I am doing damn near 90 to get around them. Its not just me, a lot of people I work with have said that this is happening to them too. It is to the point were I assuming the jackass is going to speed up a lot when I go to pass, so I put my transmission in Sport mode and let my twin turbos do the rest.
