Rant Thread

Here's a new double rant, particularly related to poor netiquette on this forum:

3. People who post wanting particular things, receive offers of the exact thing requested, and then ignore the responses, merely posting "still looking". Try "Thank you, not exactly what I was looking for", followed by some more detail so people don't waste their time offering you things when you yourself don't even seem to know what you want.

Notice a pattern here, you-know-who-you-are?

Add low ballers to that. Say you have something listed for $50 shipped, which is more than fair, and they ask if you'll take $25 shipped for it. Really? GTFOOH you cheap ass mofo. Stop wasting people's time if you can't afford it.

Mondays...

I really don't have a problem with Mondays, I try to set my self up so that I have a project to dive into on Mondays, I like to hit the ground running. My problem are all of the people bitching about Mondays, you have to go to work after days off, deal with it. If you hate going back to work that much you should really have another job.

Here's a new double rant, particularly related to poor netiquette on this forum:

1. People who ask a question, receive an articulate, on-point answer (or several) and then ignore the answer(s), only to re-ask the same question again; or worse, complain about the answer(s) they received because they weren't as detailed or specific as they wanted. The first thing emitted from your keyboard should be "Thank you", followed by more detail if a more specific question should have been asked to begin with.

Seen this kind of attitude. These type of people are all about themselves. According to them, 'the world ought to be at their disposal'.
They soon find out that the world asks them to go and f**k themselves.

I've said it before, and it's worth saying again...You Can't Fix Stupid

No, but you can sacrifice them or at least stop preventing people from hurting and killing themselves. We, the humans, have interfered with Darwinism. Cars are safe and as a result idiots (like those texting while driving) survive...

A lot of times people will do this because you are not giving them the answer they want. This is passive-aggressiveness in action. My direct supervisor is this way. He will ask a question, I will give him an answer, then he'll counter with "don't you think we should do it this way?" Basically, they are trying to lead you to make a suggested of the action they want to take, but are cowards and don't want to just come out and say what they want.

Yup, these are some of the fun "flakes" we get to deal with in most market places. The opposite is true as well, when you throw out a price for an item, and say that you will trade for a specific item, and you get offered something else entirely.

I posted a radio for sale locally (ended up selling here in RCC), asked for a specific dollar amount, then added I would trade for a specific poundage of Lego bricks. I got several trade offers for everything but Lego bricks. One guy even got insulted when he offered the top to a Polaris Razr. When I told him that I did not have a Razr and no use for the item he got irate, and told me I could sell it for more than the radio was worth. This is the point where I blocked him from sending me any more messages.

Why are there no "crawler" crawlers out there when you can get / build a full size one to ride yourself.

I would so like a insect class of crawlers, 8 legs max

Yeah..... no.

Rarely do you see this kind of behavior in anyone senior. If you cannot solicit input and make a timely decision give the best information you have you will not be in command very long.

Being a civilian now, my supervisor is a civilian as well (I work on a tiny-tiny Navy base that has no active duty). Generally I do like the guy, he is a good technician, but sometimes when his passive-aggressiveness is in high gear I think about what he would look like trying to breath after being punched in the throat...

New rant... YouTube!

You open up YouTube, and there on your suggested videos are two that look interesting, and want to watch them both. You open the first one, watch it (or don't), then would like to go back and watch the second, but when you hit the back button, or click on the YouTube icon and the second video you wanted to watch is no longer there... WTH?!?

If you viewing YouTube through an Apple device, for instance an iPad you can add the video to a watch later list, if you have an account, and are signed in. When you are looking at the thumb nail pics there should be 3 dots in a vertical line under the bottom right corner of the pic, click those and you should be able to add the video to a playlist.

I’m sure everyone knows about ford cancelling all of their cars except for the mustang and a focus crossover. But why in the heck are they coming out with a mustang hybrid??? But it gets worse! They car coming out with a mustang style crossover that fully electric, and it’s going to be called the Mach 1!

Ford is not endeared to the Mustang legacy as much as the fans are. Remember that the Probe was going to be the new Mustang way back when.

A hybrid car is not a bad idea. The technology is coming whether we like it or not.

A Mustang crossover is another matter entirely.

I rarely see any Furd cars other than the Focus or Mustang. Most people seem to be going for crossovers now. We have an Escape at work and I want to slap the idiot who designed that interior. All the buttons face up instead of straight at you and it has this tiny ass little screen for the radio that they recessed over a foot back into the dash and you can barely see it.

Another automotive rant...Auto Start. What kind of crap is this? How much fuel does it save compared to the extra wear and tear on your starter, flywheel, and battery?

My '18 F-150 has this. It takes a little bit to get used to it, but after six months, I hardly notice it anymore. For stop-n-go when in a right turn lane it gets annoying, and I turn it off. But, at a 2 - 3 minute light or 5+ minute train crossing, it makes sense. It can be turned off with a button on the dash, but you have to press it each time the engine is started. If hitting a button each time you start is too annoying, connecting a brake light tester to the four-pin on the back bumper makes it think a trailer is attached and Stop-Start is off for good.

As far as fuel economy goes, studies have shown that in normal city driving stop/start saves about 8.5% over idling. Also, starting a car and idling for seven seconds consumes about the same amount of gas.

Of course wear on the engine is a concern. They say that starting your engine is just about the worst thing you can do to it, but when start/stop kicks in your motor is already warm and lubricated. The other components are supposed to be beefed up to handle the increased cycling of the engine, only time will tell if this is true.

At the end of the day my 3.5L twin turbo Eco-Boost gets around 21.5 mpg, which isn't bad for a full-sized truck with the HP it has.

So far I like the truck, very nice to drive, lots of power, tows very nice, and great for long trips...

My rant about it.... To change a headlight bulb I have to literally dismantle the front quarter panel, WTH?!? What brainiac thought this was a good idea?

The start-stop would drive me batshit crazy at first, but I am more comfortable with it after watching this.

There is a watch later option, will save them in your page..assuming you have a youtube account.

I hadn't seen the news about the hybrid? Where did you see that? Hybrids suck as much as 4 cylinders and there are TONS of 4 cylinder Mustangs. Most of the Mustangs sold aren't V8s.

Electric vehicles are possibly the future, but they shouldn't be because they are not a viable, long term solution. If we go electric the environment is still going to pay dearly and they'll be looking for another alternative in 50 years or so.
