Build is shaping up quickly.

I have dubbed it 'What-N-TarNation' though that has nothing to do with the Paint Theme I will be doing on the body.

Should have it set as a roller by this time tomorrow, if not artr. I have a SW4/5700 here I am probably going to toss into it for now.
have to get a servo. Have a decent Hitec here that should work out well. Its an older one, but its digital and pretty fast at 6.v and has plenty of torque for steering a drag rig.

This looks like fun, I always thought a solid axle drag car would be interesting, maybe not the absolute best but fun.

Whats the front end from?

Bandit front end from Battery tray forward. I trimmed it a bit mocking it up. Now that it is where it should be, I will get another bandit chassis and trim it to the needed specs so it fits better overall. But this will suffice to get it out making passes.

Yes, twist is a concern that will have to be dealt with. Just getting the basics together atm. My plan is to add a couple metal braces from the skid plate the rear. once I have the front shock tower secured between it and the bandit front end and skid, the front should be quite stiff. 2 or maybe 3 cross braces n the back should really help make it more rigid and drastically cut any major flex that could occur. I figured 2 or may be 3 should be about right, besides what is already there.

With the Tranny being 1.83:1, and the O.D. gears being 3.5:1, I should be seeing about a 5.35:1 ratio not including the pinion spur. That could really open it up for some good top-end speed in 132'.

Been at 1/2 a standstill.

got everything installed, but a servo. Still haven't picked one up yet. But have one in my cart at Amain.

Got the body trimmed out, still need to clean up with some sandpaper to smooth out the cuts.
Then mount and paint the body.

Been getting back to work so been busy and not taken the time.
Will be doing that this next week while Im away for the week. Will swing by the local shop and see what is avail. just going to grab a simple servo. Maybe the new Hitec Drag Servo just to put something in it. I also want to mod the bulkhead and cut up bandit chassis to help fuse them into one piece.

Hopefully will be able to get a servo installed and get a few runs just to see what happens.

I thought the drive ratio would be lower than it is. Maybe I am missing something.

The Tranny is the High Ratio tranny at 1.83:1. The axle is the SSD with the OD set of 8/27 3.375:1
For spur and pinion it has a 15p/54s which is 3.6:1"
Should that not equal 8.8:1 FDR?
Seems to be double that when I roll the tire one full revolution.


Anyways, Once I get a servo installed, I'll take a few runs on 2s just to set it up, get it tracking correctly.

Need to get a decent front bumper setup on it. May grab one of the new Traxxas Drag Slash front bumpers as it looks pretty decent and will help provide a little protection when she dirfs it. hopefully it wont. lool

May need to get some 1/4 inch hardened steel rod and cut a couple new ones.

maybe buy a couple good Cro Moly screw drivers and use that steel.

if it does prove to be too much, I'll replace them and see if I can take out the diff gears next. lol True Scale Drag Shit 101. lmao

But just to have the scale build with some details would be cool.
Got an SSD motor I can stuff into it. Maybe make the hood lift and add engine bay details etc. Some zoomies and a through the hood blower off the top of the engine.

It would look bad ass as hell I'll need to relocate the esc and rx next to the tranny to put the engine and maybe an interior for shitz n grins and run it for more of a show than competition if the axles have issues.

I can totally see scale 1/4 mile getting super popular. I'd love to see front mounted motors on scale looking transmissions, hard bodies, wouldn't that be something.

I’m not convinced that the solid rear creates any issues. I don’t hear of any dogbones twisting or snapping, and by adding the sway bar we try to act like a solid rear. Proper preload, I think it’s gonna be fine

I don't know about durability but the BRX01 2 speed tranny is scale-ish and is supposed to be pretty quick. That is relative to Crawler trannies in general so who knows if it would be quick in this application.

Ordered a RudDog servo for steering duty. It'll be here next weekend when I get back home from the week it looks like.
Should be able to take some test runs.
