Official venom factory support thread

this kit is the biggest pain in the ass.

half the screws strip there heads before theyre even tightened and i cant go back to correct my own mistake because of the screws.

because of this i have a lower link joint that i cant flip around and half tightened screws over 40% of the entire thing

Is it just me or has anyone else had problems with the kits links? The links that hold the rear wheels straight are to short and, the rear wheels look like this \ /. Also the front steering link that mounts to the servo is short, when the wheels are turned to full right the tire hits the lower link. But when the tires are at full left theres about over an inch ++ between the tire and lower link. Everything was built per instructions and where followed to the letter. I have had to put spacers in the links to get the right amount of steering and ordered a set of HR lock outs to get my rear wheels straight. Just wondering if its just me, or maybe I had done something wrong.

The kit was a pain to build and I normaly don't start ditching parts within the first week after a build........but to put the shoe on the other foot.....when I finally got to run the rig I enjoyed it very much "thumbsup"

Last note, I have never found shocks that I hate more than Team Associated untill I built my Creeper. The shocks in this kit make the AE shocks look good! They didn't last a day, then I ditched them for better ones. This is in no way me asking for replacement parts because to be honest I'll be lucky when I'm done to have 75% of the original Creeper left.

IceBox84, when you mounted the steering servo, I will assume the steering trim was @ "0" and the horn was centered??? If not, the issue may have been in setup NOT the rig or links.

Just want to say thanks venom, I've had issue with my tranny and I was informed to run the trans with no grease, And u guys warrantied the part thanks alot much appreciated!

From email
The problem may be the grease. *It is supposed to be non petroleum,(I used what came with it)
*I would recommend running the gears dry. *All of us here run the Creeper with no grease on the transmission gears and it works great.
So here's what I was told Im gonna give it a shot and hope for the best.

3rd time out with my creeper safari, my front tires stopped turning. i thought
the drive line fell off. but the pinion was turning. so i took the axle apart and
this is what i found.

Are the lockers steel or aluminum? A rep with Venom told me they are steel but would like confirmation from someone not working at Venom. Did everything fit together nice and tight, any play or anything unexpected? I really wanna get these if they are durable they are the cheapest alternative aside from JB Weld and I don't wanna go that route.

the lockers are steel. so fare they work grate. they don't fit as tight as i
wood would like. but right now they work.

The Lincoln Locker's fit tight in the stock plastic diff carrier and Ive been running mine for months now without issue...

Hutsontr...I take it you tried to fit the LL's in the HD carrier?

If the Venom Lockers are loose then shim them in the carrier to take up the slop....

I forgot to mention that i've already packed the plastic diff. cases with J.B. Weld.

I installed a set of front and rear Venom lockers (P/N 8410) and ran into the same loose fitting issues as blackbart. On it's maiden voyage and within 10 feet of driving, both lockers just spun within the case. They spun bad and quickly enough that they don't even allow the truck to move on flat ground.

This is with a stock plastic differential housing, removed spiders and removed locker collar/hub.

Are we missing something as far as required parts to make for a proper fit? The HD differential case perhaps?

I'm finding *zero* information on these lockers so far.

If somebody tells me shim them, I'll use them as slingshot fodder instead. They simply shouldn't need it. If these were designed to be used in another design differential case, then so be it. They will be purchased. But this information should have been made public or at least included along with the parts that they concern.

Ideas? Comments? Am I the moron? :ror:

I'd suggest calling up Venom support and leave a call back number when asked if they don't pick up, they have always called me back but I think this is the only way your going to get the answer your searching for

Isn't this supposed to be the thread with a direct line to the guys at Venom? I'm willing to wait for an answer.

The only issue is that I don't have any time during the day to make the call that I need to.

I'll make time when I can to make the call, but was hoping this would be a bit easier than It seems.

Thanx James from Venom

Hi all,
Been lurking here for a couple of weeks now and after reading most of the posts I decided to purchase a Creeper. I was ready for some of the issues with a new build and was hoping I would not regret it. Anyhow I spent about 8 hours over 2 days putting the rig together as a stocker, ran into a few problems with missing or defective parts, but did get it together with some hardware I had laying around and dry shocks.
So I shot a e-mail to Venom asking a few questions and listing the problems I had, that was on a Sunday night and Monday morning i got a reply from James asking for the part numbers I needed. I replied right away with the numbers he needed. Here it is Saturday of the same week and a knock on the door from the postman with a box of parts from Venom absolutly shocked me, I never received a reply from James saying that the parts were on the way or answers to my questions so I had kinda given up on seeing anything without a follow up on my part.
But any way I just wanted to post on here that I am very happy with Venom's CS on defective or missing parts from their kits was great, but I still have not had my questions answered from my build.

Thanx again to James from Venom "thumbsup""thumbsup"
