Official venom factory support thread

Just got my Safari kit over the weekend. Got all the updates installed, got the iron out to convert to deans, plugged 'er in to a fresh battery and only have steering and dig response, no drive f/r... Have a call and email in for support. Just for $#!ts and giggles I installed my flysky rx/tx and a kyosho rtr brushed esc and got some response, was weird there was only full throttle, no mid-range at all. Only for a little bit however, after about the 3rd time turning it on on the bench I saw the white poof of death from the Kyosho esc. Now back to square one again, still have steering and dig but no drive.

I don't know if this is the right place for this question but

Why did venom decide to stop making the creeper?
It seams to be popular. I have been looking at them for a while and decided to sell off my other rig to buy one but once I got it sold there are no creepers to be found.

Probably because they really can't compete with Axial which to be honest, has the market cornered. Scalers are where the demand is and Venom has yet to come out with a proper scaler

where did you get this info from?

CKRC website:
"Venom Is Discontinuing The Creeper & Safari for the Atomik Line

Venom is discontinuing the Creeper and the Safari and will have an entirely new crawler available early 2013 with the brand name Atomik. This new crawler will have parts interchangeable with the older venom crawlers.

CKRC will continue to stock and sell the parts for all the venom and atomik line. This is just a fyi for our customers. Thank you."

ok, thanks for the info. I just broke both front inner axles saturday and am running low on spares. I wonder if they will upgrade the materials and offer better parts under the atomik name? I guess we'll find out one day.

I want to see a stronger axle mainly, everything from the pinion to better shafts.

there is a "rock crawler" section on the Atomik site now, nothing in it though. Interested to see what they come up with and what all is interchangeable.

IMO all the axial stuff is great for starting, the creeper is more versatile in stock form. But the aftermarket really got behind axial and thats why they are at the top. I wonder if venom has to approve aftermarket stuff?

It seems venom/atomik is on ebay selling parts. I sent them a message about the junk pinions and this is his response:

Dear joec904,

Yes, this is Venom/Atomik. As for the creeper pinions we are aware of some subpar parts and we are working with the factory to correct this.

Whether or not thats true is anyones guess.

well i drove normally and didnt do any hard crawling.
my diffs are locked with epoxy...
and my tires are HB rovers.

I was breaking axles left and right so Raterd cut down some berg axles and fit them to my creeper. I haven't broke one since. Then I started breaking pinions. I put 2 shims in the pinion and it is doing good.

would it be possible to get some pics and part numbers on this?

are you over steering? When at full turn do the tires try to wobble straight any?

they wobble a bit in the and of steering travel. but the stock lasted one and a half years...
and if i limit the steering travel then it will take for ever to turn

what i did is i moved the rear CVA's to the front and cos there is no steering in the back i put a M5 bolt. the end is sanded to fit the "diff" and the head got a hole for the out drive pin to go through.

well, If you are turned all the way and in a bind the pin is taking a lot of abuse and binding everything up. It's also possible you got a bad batch of axles. You may need to turn down your steering just a bit. Also, a dig unit would get you some better steering capability, Or 4ws like I run.
