One question.....

Points for scale drive train? I know its not a big deal but what if someone was to run the motor under the hood and have a scale T-case? Does that count for anything or is it "scale porn"?
at this years even I think its going to fall into the PORN category, but next year is a different story.

i'm doing the same on my hi-lift 3 speed upfront to an axial t case to allow for the full interior and still maintain the 3 speed"thumbsup"

Huh, OK, I guess I will need to drop points in other places.

Well, CRAP. :-x

I've been slaving away on Betty tonight. She's got 1/8 inch link mounts, shock mounts, and I'm making electronics trays to go in.

Decided to take a break and see how she's sitting for scale points and just noticed the 10.5 in track width rule.

Betty is at 11 inches...Wheely King axles with RC4WD wheels and narrowed IMEX All-Ts. No wideners.

:-(

So I started checking the scale points and realized how much it sucks to be trying to get scale points with a tuber.

By looking at the deductions, a tube frame is simply a -3.

The rules show that front and rear bumpers are -3, a roof rack is -2, exo is -3, and a hard body is -5. If I built an X-trail with all that I'd have -12. Does that apply to tubers or is the -3 all the tubers get?

Crazy thing is the tube frame is the exo, it's also the roof rack...and the bumpers are integrated into the chassis.

In the 1.9 rules, it states...

"Chassis must be OEM stock or custom ladder style that must extend over the axles. OEM suspension may be modified in any way."

What if my chassis is over the front axle, but stops behind the cab and the rest of the suspension is 4-linked and attached to the tubed rear half?

Not like it matters, I am not changing it now with only 5 days til I roll out, but I thought I would ask...

I've wondered about that too, the rear end of Guido is as much a bumper as most I've seen made. But is it a bumper if it really isn't a "bumper".

A smart man would run an alum chassis, lexan body, and "scale it out" with sleeping bags and doo-dads. :lol:8)

Hence the "Scale Competition" oxymoron I have always talked about;)

Edit: I built my rigs how I wanted them built, I didn't add a shit load of goddy scale crap just for the sake of points. If I don't start the day with a -25 so be it, I just didn't want to Chaman my shit to get points.

The back of my flatbed is going to be so full of bumpers and scale shit your not even going to be able to tell it's a flatbed.

Chaman for President!

Never doubted you. 8)

I built my rigs the way I wanted also. "thumbsup"

T-shirt preorder?

All mine are build to how I wanted as well.... With the exception of things I ran out of time for...

But for Blue monsters Question, the frame rails can be made of tube... I belive that rule was to eliminate people trying to run a tvp as a scaler

so you cant run a flatbed unless it has a tailgate?

I believe a flat bed and tube bed are very similar;-)

- A shortened or lengthened body is allowable. A tubed bed must have a Functional bed area capable of carrying a full-size spare laid flat (rear fender and tailgate rules do not apply to tubed beds).
