Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

Im not for doing gnarly cross country riding anymore. If the ride is a little more tough up the hill its no big deal because I aint going up hill fast that's for sure! I am ok with the fact that I will never be back at my race pace when I was in high school haha! Im last up the hills and thats fine with me.

Thanks guys for your input and I will for sure look in to demoing a bike before I buy.

I love my (all mountain) Giant Reign
Suits me just fine , it will climb anything a XC bike will , albeit at a much slower pace . And then when the track starts going downhill its a blast.
"thumbsup"

Took a trip to Ithaca, NY and shipped the MTB up ahead of me. Some great trails and beautiful scenery up here!

I grew up there! That is about 1.5 miles from my childhood home. I got married right where your bike is on the overlook.

Got a new bike the other week and i've been loving it! 2016 Kona Hei Hei DL.

I went for a good ride today! I love how my Evo looks with the Kona on the roof.

I hear great things about that bike. Kona is a very underrated brand.

Yes, I love it! I am a big fan of the short rear travel and longer in the front. With the 29" wheels the bike just works awesome. I had been putting longer travel forks on Xcountry frames when i lived out west and riding them on enduro style trails around Tahoe. That was back when everything was 26" wheels. A rep left a Hei Hei DL with a dropper post at my buddies shop when i borrowed it, i feel in love. If i designed a bike it would be this exact bike.

Took my 29er out to the local BMX track I rode as a kid and was hooked again and added to the fleet.

And then re purposed my old school MTB into a single speed cruiser/klunker.
Before

After

Still needs some tweaking and then some paint and polish

Went out for a ride today and decided to take some different trails to see where they went. Actually turned out decent. Way more rocks than most of the other trails out at puddingstone. Lots of really fine, dry moon dust too. My rear tire didn't really like it that much.

I made it up this small climb about ten feet before saying screw it and hopping off to walk it. It wasn't super steep but requires a little more concentration than I can give out right now considering my ankle's still a little screwed up and I had never ridden this section of trail before so I figured I'd play it safe.

And mandatory beauty shot of my carbon turd.

Some pictures of my son racing. He is on a high school mtb team here in AZ.
I'm so glad he enjoys riding/ racing as much as I do.
