I have a diamondback outlook any suggestions on tires for like off-road and onroad ??? Pretty much all terrain tires

I like Crawler Innovations cut-n-shut 29'er 2.2 (wide) Ripsaws for my Rigid SS with CI no-tubes. He actually sent me a set of prototype cut-n-shut 29' treps that were clapped as well, and had a one stage run flat foam. Can't wait to try them tomorrow on Thorny trail. "thumbsup"

I like a close pattern of knobbies, nothing too aggressive, because they are too slow and realistically not needed for most trails. I find the closer patterns have good traction for my local dirt, and of course my style of riding which is as fast as possible through the turns. I have found the smoother closer tires to be very confidence inspiring in just about all types of terrain around me.
I would ask the guys at the local shop what they are running on the local trails, chances are they ride a lot, and try a lot of tires since they get good deals on them... that information gets trickled down to you... I thought it was exciting when I could explain to a customer why I ran something vs another thing, based on practical knowledge, and use.

Hope this helps "thumbsup"

I also realized that I spent a good bit more on my road bike than I did my MTB, when I was all about getting back into mountain biking a couple months ago. What the hell have you guys done to me? :flipoff:

When my girlfriend and I first met, she used to ask why someone would need more than one bicycle. Now she has 4 8)

Demo day this Saturday. I've been wanting to ride a Trek Fuel EX8, Remedy 8 27.5 and Giant Trance 27.5 side by side. I'm still not sure which direction I want to go. I'd like another cross country race bike, but I'd also like to race Enduro. Most XC bikes are now 29's which I'd rather not have.

If you're racing cross country why wouldn't you want a 29er?

I don't like the way they handle. I've tried to like them, and understand the benefits for XC, but their handling just kills if for me. I have a feeling the days of 26" is numbered, so I'm thinking of going 27.5 and getting it over with.

They are different, but a good 29er frame set handles quite well. I'm tall so 29er makes even more sense for me, 650b (27.5) is theoretically good compromise.

OK GUYS, NOW I KNOW THE "IN" THINGS ARE THE 29ER'S... but I can not afford a good one at this time (full suspension is what i am looking at). ... sooo... I need to replace my current diamondback (2005) year with a "new" bike. I have narrowed it down to either a cannondale rush sl (2009) model with both fox shocks (front rear) or a Specialized Pitch Pro (2011) also with fox shocks. My main questions or concerns are: of these 2 bikes which one is more able to have replacement/upgrade parts installed on them? and also of the 2 bikes i am thinking about which of them is the "better" bike for desert/ all mountain riding (kinda aggresive type8) - to me anyways!:lmao:)

any information would be much appreciated!!!"thumbsup"

thanks!!

I agree. For a larger rider, or someone who isn't biased like me they are great. I'm glad the 27.5's came along though since I wasn't ready for the big hoops just yet.

I think I'd love a 650b, as you guys know I hated my 29er intially. But thank to some advice from you guys, and a good bike shop, I'm very happy with it now. But it's still not as playful feeling as my other bikes were. NOW, that being said, a buddy has a yelli screamy 29er that's he claims is a blast to ride and I'll find out soon hopefully when I make it out his way.

Today was group ride day, and I made it a bit farther today, and had a freaking blast as usual. I love my new road bike BTW, and I'm really happy I forked out the extra cash for the Tiagra component group. The 10 speed is much better for me around here vs the 9 as I'm not in between gears as much and can find a happy cadence easier.

Being able to do this after smoking for so long is huge to me, so I couldn't resist a poser pic

What's your budget? Out of the two you posted I'd go with the specialized. It's newer and looks way better. Have you tried looking on pinkbike.com? You can get just a frame or a whole complete bike for a good price if you look hard enough.

The Specialized is definitely the better of the 2. The only problem with it is they don't make the Pitch anymore, so getting replacement linkage bolts, etc... later on down the road could be tough. Take the above advice and check out the Pinkbike classifieds if you're looking for a used full suspension. Be a little picky, though. I wouldn't recommend getting a full suspension older than 3-4 years old and make sure it's in great shape.

This is Awesome hpiguy!!!! Way to be inspired.
You're going to transform your body into
an efficient running calorie burning oven if you keep this up. You should take the same picture in a year :lmao:

Thanks buddy! I'm loving road biking like I never thought I would in a million years. I think the pic next year is a great idea also. Weekly rides are going to start increasing in length to around 25 miles (hopefully, depends on the group), and I'd like to do that 3 times a week, or twice with a MTB day to break it up. Trying to get in shape for the fall classic benefit ride end of September, I'm planning to do the 50 mile loop, there's no time limit.

Here is my Airborne Goblin. Its been a great bike so far, had it for a month. I have put 134 miles on it so far without a problem. Went with a 29er for the first time and I feel better on big hoops. But I am also 6'4 240lbs. Highly recommend a Goblin.

Can you guys give any suggestions for pads for the Avid Elixr1 brakes on my MTB? I have been killing these pretty damn quickly. Also, any tips on how to know when they are shot?
