Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

Short loop on the MTB today. Did the orange trail for the first time today, very technical and pretty steep. Hope to do better on that one, and get some video next weekend.

Raced this weekend:) Indian Camp Creek 3/6/9hour, St. Louis Mo. area. Did the 3hr. Second race ever, first land rush start. Lined up in a conservative position and first lap was slow but passed a lot and got with people of my level by second. Finished 34th out of 75(in solo male), had my first lap been on par with 2nd/3d/4th laps I would have gained some spots. But totally happy with my performance. 4 laps of 8-miles in 3hr. 11min. (time includes a 10 min. start lap)
Fast laps were in the 38 min. range, mine were in the 44-45 min. range. I was done and didn't have a fifth lap in me, climbing had slowed to a crawl. 30 lbs. bike took its toll. Awesome time! Awesome trail!

Got some climbing in on Saturday morning. Hoping to get out again tonight. Wrist is bearable now.

Stupid question that I can't seem to find...how do you log out of the Strava app on Android? I'm using my old Android phone just for Strava since I have my Nokia Lumia as my regular phone.

Heres a long boring craptastic video of my son and i riding.
Its from a 1900's era camera by todays standards. If you make past the first minute you did good!! Sorry but you dont get that minute back!!
One of these years im gonna get on of those fancy Go pros!
The audio is terrible also, you probably want to mute this sucker!!
Enjoy!

I have not seen a lot of FS bikes in here but I may as well ask for some opinions. I have my streetbike up for sale and when sold I would like to purchase a new bike. The last bike I owned was a 1999 s-works DH with a Hankbrink inverted fork. The bike was a pig, but a blast to downhill.

I am looking for long travel, but I would like to pedal up the hills. I have read that the new long travel bikes are much easier to pedal. So my question is, how much is too much? I was looking at the Specialized Enduro Comp or Kona Process 153. This weekend while at a LBS I came across this.

2011 Specialized Enduro Expert Evo

It's brand new and they are asking $3000 for it, original price was $4800. I am concerned it might be to much bike. Anyone have any thoughts on this bike or maybe ridden one?

I am in the NW (Portland, OR area), I like jumps/drops/bombing rocky hils, ect.. and supposedly a lift serviced trail system is to be opened on Mt. Hood next year.

Just seen this. I think the Enduro is an awesome bike. Not "too much" for your
area. It will be 30+lbs. but that's not a lot for a parkable bike. Seen video of these following full downhill bikes no problem. But it will pedal back up waaaay better. The Kona is another viable option. A lot of bang for the buck and geo of the year. Looked into both of these when looking to get new bike this year. Missouri is more cross country ish. So went with a Spec Camber. Another bike I would seriously look at is a Yeti SB. Another do it all bike.

Sprained it going OTB in Laguna about 6 weeks ago. Should have went to the Dr... Finally feeling ok though, but braking bumps are still my worst enemy

That sucks...I hate otb...and hate going to the doctor who usually says something helfpful like, "Motrin, ice and rest for a few days. If it hurts don't do it." Really? Thanks? LOL

Hope you're healed up soon. "thumbsup" I've had a few injuries that took awhile to heal completely, sucks not riding or having to take it easy on the trail.

LOL

Nice lunch ride today. Best way to keep my head clear

Yup, still taking it easy. After breaking my leg last year and being off for 4+ months I dont care if I have to take it easy. As long as I am riding!

sooo ..... how are you guys "transfering" the strava information to the computer to get to this thread:roll:?? would like to do the same thing but do not know how:oops: i am a non premium strava member....

thanks!!!"thumbsup"

Either the Strava app on Android/iPhone, or compatible apps with the option for a Strava add-on (Cyclometer on Windows Phone for example). Another option is with a cycling computer, but I don't use one, so somebody else can chime in on that.

Put in a few easy miles. My son and I both ended up having flats.
Good thing I had 2 extra tubes.
