New SSD SCX10 axle housings

I can't be the only one that thinks these would be an awesome way to start a custom housing build? A little chop-chop here, a little lathe work there, turn some new toobs, press 'em in, and build a truss. I see hours of fun ahead...

Yeah this wait is killing me. I'm in the middle of a build and need these to progress. I just really hope there's enough to go around and I don't miss out on a set because all three were sold in 16 seconds. Make a bunch SSD, they'll outsell every other option, I'm sure, just based on price alone.

Some info...

Injection molded nylon
One piece housing (like Axial ar60)
Removable diff cover - aluminum diff cover will be available at release
4 link mount included
Panhard mount included
Servo on axle is possible - with optional mounting plate
100% compatible with stock SCX10 axle gears, shafts, bearings, C hubs and knuckles - so it's a straight swap, no new parts needed.

I assume these would also be compatible with Vanquish knuckles, C hubs and lockouts?

Despite not really needing these I do like the way they look and perhaps they will be stronger as well. Price is set perfect, nice job with the market research SSD. I love how they are a stock style replacement and backwards compatible with everything currently on the market. These are going to sell like crazy

That's the same axle that was on the rig that they were promoting their rear bumper on, I think. Someone in that thread posted that it was an RC4WD D44 rear. Kind of amusing that no one noticed it.:ror:

Very nice SSD!!!

It's funny I posted I thought they were SSD axles. I was told they were not but obviously I was right. HaHa!

I'm with you! I've mastered narrowing AR60 axle housings, the same technique should work for these. I can see myself using the SSD center section and re-worked AR60 tubes for a nice looking plastic axle. I can see my 1/6th scale Jerp with some better looking axles under neath of it!

That makes two of us! Looking forward to potentially modding these to work on my 1/6 leaf sprung Jerp. Narrowed several AR60's for other rigs, but they just dont look right, but these should fit nicely "thumbsup"

Looking forward to these. May need to make custom pan hard mount and 4link as I feel they are a little high causing weird upper link angles, but that could just be the pictures.

Don't forget guys, these housings have an 8mm ID and a 13mm OD. Turning new tubes as well as boring a little meat out of the center chunk of the housing will be required. Beings I don't have a lathe for that kinda stuff, I guess I best be buying one finally.

Having done a few sets of AR60s myself, these and the Ascender housings are at the top of my list to build "my way" next. Sadly, I don't even have a rig for them to go in. Just ideas for some sweet axles. I can always figure out what to put them under later... :lmao:

I hope someone yells out when they are available for purchase! I need a set. Sitting broke, and dont want to buy stock ones.

trevorsride, me too! I might have to get a stock housing to get back out there. I gave my son a honcho for his birthday so we could go trailing and now my rig is just sitting :(
