New SSD SCX10 axle housings

We didn't test VP Chubs as we tested with Axial aluminum and plastic parts. I'm sure VP parts will not be far off the Axial specification and probably just need a bit more force to push on.

As SSD has stated numerous times beef tubes won't fit. The housings are 13mm od and 8mm id. That's 2.5mm worth of thickness all the way around. These are really thick.

Received my axle housings. Has anyone tried beef tubes on these yet?

I posted the quote below on page six, post number 118. These axles are new and don't have the Beef Tubes option yet. They may not need them as far as strength is concerned, but it would help if you wanted to add weight.

You want axle tubes for the new SSD axles? You could start with this, no lathe needed, just a steady hand and Dremel or good tub cutter.

Yes! Very nice. I really do like the idea that it will also strengthen the housing and give something to thread into for the hubs as well as adding weight.

I literally hammered on VP chub a few times and it still didn't go on all the way. Figured it was time to break out the dremel to remove some material :ror: Probably didn't even need the screws after I got them on, which is a good thing.

That was my exact eperience. These things are on there now. A screw is just gonna be so dirt don't get inside the housing. Lol
"thumbsup" SSD these are great axles.

So much goodness going on here.

Now it twists on the opposite (driver) side. My trans is currently mirrored, but I will be putting it back to normal. I wasnt looking forward to pulling it apart to stick in the new bearings but this gives me another reason to do it.

I didn't think about that. Mine is mirrored as well. I'm in the build phase so it's easy to switch back.

I hadn't thought about it either. I went for a test drive after installing everything and first time I nailed the throttle, I thought "wtf?" and then I remembered the gears were flipped. Between that and going from 4 link up front to a CMS, I had to learn to drive it all over again.

This would have been nice to know! I only ordered one for the rear! Now im screwed! Have to order another, and wait another week or so.
