New SSD SCX10 axle housings

Mine have been delivered! Guess I know what I will be doing when I get home tonight.

Lunch break at the house! The material feels solid. Definitely firmer than stock ax10/scx housing material.

Got mine today also, much more scale looking than the stock axles and seem well made. Now I just gotta figure out what I'm going to build to put them under...thinking a nice Class 1 rig with a Hummer H2 hard body.

I think I like the look of the stock diff cover myself. Can't wait to compare them to my D44's. Other than the tube diameter the look exactly the same.

Just note the ring gears are on the opposite side of stock SCX's. The 3-link axle is moved ~5mm back vs a VP 3-link mount. Front upper was shortened.
Chubs and lockouts were a wicked tight fit. Some minor housing end dremeling was required, so I didnt have to bang them on. No biggie.

I was thinking about the ring gear side and forget which side my kit built instructions put it on. Have to go look at my VP 3-link setup, not sure if that change is good, bad or doesn't really matter.

Good, they don't get tighter with use. :lmao:"thumbsup" A set of Axial aluminum rear lockouts would look better because the thinner diameter is closer to the housing diameter...that is why I've never bought the VP lockouts. Your truck is looking good. "thumbsup" Is the spacing on lower link mounts closer together so that the the lower shock mount and end link rod ends slip in snugly or loose like stock Axial housings?

I used Ssd scale wheel hardware to assemble my cover. Axial chubs and knuckles fit nice and tight and there is a lot of meat for the c-hub screws.

My axles will be waiting for me to open them when I get home. That is assuming my 2 year old daughter doesn't get to them first and claim them for her truck.

I knew being lazy and not fixing my stripped out stock housing was a good idea. :lmao:
