My 2013 Losi Sporty

A quick test-run today,-wow !,- it is so smooth downhill !! "thumbsup"
Much more overall control too :)

Running a 18 pinion now and the temp is warm,-but ok so far :)

Only downside is the lack of wheelspeed.....may have to go for 4s lipo....8)

Will be doing some more testing in the weekend ;-)

Do you use the JENS-tranny-mod with the 25T motor?
Which ESC are you using with the Axlebuster?

No,-no tranny-mod,-stock LNC-tranny with HR steel gears,-the plastic gears with the mod broke to often......

I'm using the Holmes BR mini ESC :)

Drove a few training courses on sunday. Very happy with the Axle Buster,-the smoothness is so nice. "thumbsup""thumbsup" Much more control and feeling with the throttle,-the BR Mini may also contribute to that ;-)

Need for speed ;-)

"Homemade" 4s battery "thumbsup"
Zippy compact 500mah 35c cells

Hope to give it a try today 8)

Looking forward to your impressions. I'm also running an AxleBuster and Holmes mini. When I went from 3S to 4S I was underwhelmed. Sorta like we've gotten all there is to get with this worm-gear drivetrain and more voltage doesn't help much. But maybe yours will be different.

Did some testing yesterday,-and I have to agree to some point.
The speed was not that much higher,-but the punch was very good "thumbsup"
I'm running stock LNC tranny with 19t pinion.

But again,-I absolutely love the smoothness and excellent driveability of the AxleBuster/BR Mini combo "thumbsup"

And as far as all the nay-sayers on brushed motors in Losi's, I've been running mine for well over a year. Since before general introduction. I've done no internal maintenance and the only problem I've had is a chipped magnet presumably from ingesting a tiny pebble. I have spare brushes, springs and armatures but have yet to need one. And we comp weekly here so I probably have 50+ comps on this motor.

One caution. When you do take it apart for inspection, be aware that the washers are steel. So the magnets steal them off the shaft when you go to reassemble. I finally got tired of fighting it so superglued the washers (or shims if you prefer) in place. Life is now easier.

That is good news "thumbsup"

About the washers,-I replaced them with non-steel from an Integy motor,-why are they steel in the first place ??

I took the motor apart before I installed it in the car. I noticed some binding and there where one or two washers to many from the first assambly I think,-one of them was damaged also,-stuck to the magnet.....

The chipped magnet you mention,-could perhaps be from a runaway washer during assambly.... ???

The washers are steel because thats the only way they made the common .015 size...the .010 is brass, the .020 is aluminum......the brass simply fall off to easy, the aluminum I don't like to use as it compresses just a tad....so I limit the use.

Shafts are measured before they go in with washers and after, so its not likely one came off during assembly...there is a trick to doing it, but hard to explain. Glueing them I guess works as well....you can also use a little grease or oil to hold them on...

That is another reason why the can is fully sealed with no vents, dumb little things getting in there...

One of the pains of the cobalts, they are very powerful....

Later EddieO

Yeah I don't know for sure what chipped the magnet. The motor had perhaps an hour on it before it started making a noise. That was the first time I opened it and found the damaged magnet. The corner that broke off had crumbled and so there was a lot of debris in the can. But I never found anything obviously foreign, so the mystery pebble was Eddie's speculation. We obviously don't really know. Didn't seem to do any permanent damage.

I like the semi-BTA steering. Someday I'll have to figure out how to do a full BTA on my Sudu Losi. I worked it out on my SuDu AX10, but the Losi axle looks harder to work with.

Video from our 5th comp in the Norwegian series,-with some Losi action too "thumbsup"

Even my 2013 rig was dusted off,-and driven by a friend of mine, who had not comped before. He did very well in the Rookie class :)
The Rookie 2.2 class is for new drivers,-with a few easier gates and some guidance and help during the course.
We have great success with recruiting with this class,-in which you can drive for one season only "thumbsup"

I managed a second place in shafty class this time :)

.

New bodies for all the rigs,-getting ready for Worlds "thumbsup""thumbsup"

After todays comp I'm switching over to Hitec 7950 again...

The ProTek did not have the same power in a bind,-sorry to say that I'm not to happy with the performance......
