I had been waiting for the kit for months, but when it was announced it was delayed again... I decided to pop on the RTR. After deciding to get out of the 2wd buggy scene and selling my RC10B5M and everything that went with it, I had quite the amount of funds to work with. Below is my purchase list. Some of this I already have from the buggy, electronics and such, and some has already arrived.

Looking forward to the build/rebuild of the RTR and will be documenting the process along the way.

The wheels, tires and foams also arrived today from Crawler Innovations and Vanquish. I took some shots of the build process and have a few ideas around the installation of the beadlock wheels and tires.

Working on getting all of the screws installed... my hand is a bit sore.

Deuces Wild and Pit Bull Rock Beasts 2

When doing my research on the beadlocks for this build, I noticed a good number of people complaining about mounting the vanquish wheels to 2.2 tires and foams. I especially noticed complaints around the Vanquish OMF wheels. Overall, mine went on without any issues. I will share what I felt to be an easy way to get them on.

When screwing the beadlock ring on, I left a good portion of the screws (24) unscrewed. I would say I left around 1/2 the screw unscrewed. I found that this allowed the inner ring more clearance and the ability to reach the back ring much easier. Once the 4 screws on the back were tightened, I then finished tightening the beadlock ring screws.

Here's a shot showing the full 24 screws half way tightened.

This is before I finished tightening the 4 screws on the rear and on the beadlock. You can see the clearance between the rings... I barely had to squeeze the rings together to get the rear screws to bite.

All finished.

Nice wheels!

As for the trailing arm on the Yeti, I prefer the Yeti 7075 trailing arms by UCfab sold here. Harder matirial, replaceble rod end, where as the VP ones will eventually wear out and have
some slop in the ball caveties.

I got a set of Yeti 7075 trailing arms by UCfab for my wrexo and there are awsome! I recommand them! Got the hard anodized one and I'm very please! Forth taking a look! Plus the rod end are traxxas, easily available and cheap!

Waiting for more pics of your built!

With the most important part showing up today, I was able to get down to business.

Might as well get this shot before I rip into it.

And here we go...

First victim is the rear axle... out with the old, in with the new. A Vanquish Currie Wraith axle.

Oh yeah, got some electronic goodies as well as the STRC rear link mounts and a Robinson Racing hardened steel spur.

I got a yeti for christmas.. i upgraded all the links to aluminum. I'm glad this thread is here and bookmarked. So I know what will work and what wont. When I go to upgrade some more. I can't wait to see more.

Had a somewhat productive day working on the Yeti. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures, but you're not missing much. Installed the axle in the rear as well as the vanquish trailing arms. I also took the transmission apart and installed the hardened Robinson Racing gears as well as the Robinson Racing spur. The power plant, my Tekin Pro4 HD 3500kv, was also installed. I'll snap a few pics tomorrow.

Still waiting on 2 more packages, so I'm a bit stalled until they arrive.

Servo Horn, RPM Arms and STRC caster blocks from TCS Crawlers (which seems to be lost in the mail... was suppose to arrive today but no updates since the 5th.)

Front steering links and rear links from Blue Monkey, looking like Friday on this package.

Why did you decide on the 3500kv instead of the 3000kv? I am looking to get the most speed out of the Yeti, and want to chose the motor that will allow that. I am thinking about the Gen3 slipper with 64t and a 18t pinion to get some more top speed. Does that make sense?

Honestly, I ordered it and instantly regretted it, wanting the 3000k.

Some updates with pictures finally!

Installed the currie axle, STRC 4 link mount and trailing arms. This thing looks sharp!

New Blue Monkey Turnbuckles/Rear links... these things are beefy!

Moved on to the front... Installed the new RPM arms, BM Links, axial universals, Vanquish Hexes, STRC Caster Block and Hot Racing Knuckle. Overall, impressed with both the STRC and Hot Racing quality.

I did have to shave a bit of the knuckle to help the bearing fit on the inside. I quickly hit it with the Dremel and it slid in fine. Obviously, I would have rather the bearing just fit but I wont complain, it looks great!

Went ahead and installed both the rear links and the MIP spline. I ended up using the kits linked below. Overall, they look good so far. Will have to see how they handle once they have some torque on them.

MIP Spline C-CVD Bone (1) [MIP9169]
MIP C-Drive Spline [MIP08103]

Here's the front knuckles with wheels attached.

Here's a shot of the new Robinson Racing spur gear installed. I also installed the internal Robinson racing gears while I was at it.

In this shot, you can also see the Vanquish steering rack and sheer steering rack. I also used a bearing in the servo saver... will probably end up getting the duuuude bushing when all is said and done.

As she sits currently. I'm loving the all black, it still has a stock look for the most part.

I've got my eye on the RPP spur kit. For the internal trans gears you've used, can you post up the part numbers please?

I'm trying to make sure i can find the right ones here in the UK.
