Now if only the next FW for the micro had the upper voltage limit turned off...

Small motors usually use less energy.

The difference in run time between a tekin 1512 sized 1400kv and a tekin 540 1400kv is about 2 hours.

Correct.. no disagreement there.. but also the drag brake strength and also torque of the motor is much less using a small can/rotor

I run mostly 2 pole 540 motors. My favorite is an old trinity d3.5 17.5kv....
Anything above ~60% db will hold the truck from rolling, any higher and it just endos

Do you run 2s, 3s, or 4s? Drag brake and torque go up with higher voltage.

I run 3s.. that's odd because my tekin roc412 needs about 80% drag brake to hold my 10.2 still, and my HH 540xl in my bomber needs about 70% to hold it still.

Again, were talking completely still on 50* inclines/declines

And the castle crawler motor is smaller than a 540.. hopefully people have noticed that

Price looks good, page said low start is "under control" change in these motors, vs the 2650?
JRH said due to racing background these will be poor slow startup ?

Hang up and Drive

I haven't tested this newest release, it sounds like they listened to myself and others and tuned these "slate" colored motors for better startup. I would assume the rotors were modified to lower detent. Or they got the software dialed in to soften the startup. Either way, good that Castle is listening and pushing hard into crawling. Well, good for everybody except me and Tekin :ror:

Double checked that before. It's wired correctly but you are right that that is how it's acting.

If you have look at your throttle settings, I bumped mine back 4 and it was a nightmare, thought sensor wire, after many minutes I saw the bar on my display , I use a Futaba though

That looks similar to the horrible cogging I had. Did you upgrade your firmware to the newest on the Castle site?

Yes it is updated v2.02. I did double check that the Holmes sensor wire is plugged in fully and stopped by the lhs to pick up a castle adapter so I can try one of the many old sensor wires I have.

It's probably not the sensor cable, but it's worth checking.

I just need to tear into it. Make sure wires ABC on the motor isn't shorted. To me it is acting like it's un-sensored.

Mine acted the same way. It was the firmware. But even the new firmware that I tried (the version before the current release) needed to be on the correct settings or it cogged. I forget what that setting was though. It might have been sensored instead of Smart Sense. I forget how Castle does their settings. I'll try to remember to looking into it when I get home.
