Losi 1/10th Roller

From what i read the cvd only failed after some serious abuse so i wont be worrying about them if they break just learn when to stop pullint the throttle when its in a jam.

is it May yet??????????????????????

If your in a comp and get in a jam you gonna touch the rig and get extra points? Hell NO, your gonna gun it and hope it comes loose! Build it, break it, build it again!!!

No you take a revese as its less than a repair. its all about being smart:-P

as for 14 oz ive been running 16oz on axial cvd's and never had a issue so i dont see there being a problem with 14oz on the losi

Or you "dig" your self out of the bind and pick a different line without taking a reverse 8)

And on the question about cvd's for the Losi, I am willing to bet that after-market will have all sorts of upgrades from straight axles with dog bones for the rear, to purty pink anodized lockouts. Or, you could install some Axial axles under the the Losi and get your dogbones with the digs.

I disagree guys about the CVD's. The ONLY brand CVD's I have ever experienced to have superior quality and strength are the Thunder Tech CVD's for the Clod. The Axial CVD's break regularly, and so do the TLT CVD's. GateKeeper runs his Axial with stock Axial dog bone shafts and so do a few guys in my local club. The stock Axial dog bones are plenty strong and allow you to run a lot of weight on the wheels, something you can't do with CVD's and expect long life.

IMO, since the Losi has front and rear dig, I would sacrifice a little turning radius for something that might be much stronger and allow me to run heavy beadlocks (something in the 14oz or slightly heavier range). Every terrain is different, but in East Texas, we crawl a lot of man made obstacles and the heavier weight is needed to perform well.

Ever hear the ol' saying
If it aint broke, dont fix it
Heck you aint even drove it yet and you wanna fix it. 40 packs is a bunch of runtime before a break bud. Im not gonna worry about it at this point. I am sure there will be hop up parts for it very soon after its release. I tried talkin Rich into gettin me one early since Del Monte is running my grease in his rig with no such luck. I have scanned the manual hard and see a few things I am planning on making parts for. Would be nice if Rich would let a few manufactureers have a pre release rig to design parts from.

So no worries, Im sure someone will be makin the parts you want very soon................

Speakin of that I wish someone would make a one piece axle shaft and spool, that would be really sweet for the rear of any rig.

As far as the Comp, I plan to run it pretty much stock for some time, maybe get some Vanquish wheels but that's about it.

AMEN BROTHER!!!

Nothing like having upgrades ready from day one!!!"thumbsup"

I'll take an anodized Spindle and axle block:lol: (aka C and knuckle :) )

I'll take whatever Rich and Losi put in the box. . .It's gonna be great "as is". ^^But I agree- Aftermarket support will be big! after all it's a LOSI.

its funny how many people dont realize when comparing cvd's is that mip makes most of them. my thunder tech's are made by mip and so are the tlt's, hpi, team associated, team losi. of course the clod's will be stronger than a tlt look at the size of the entire axle assembly

are you Losi guys running the xcelorin esc motor in the comp crawler? Does anyone else know much about the xcelorin systems are they good, smooth, and reliable? I would like to get the comp crawler and go BL but don't know what would be a good BL system; the GOAT seems to have problems and can only run 2s lipos. Thanks

Went to RCX today.
Got to meet Jake/Del Monte in person and check out his Losi. Thing is quite capable and very impressive. I see big things for this new rig.

Also got to meet the rep from Vanquish products, can't remem his name tho dangit. Those Vanquish wheels are just pretty!

Was a good time at RCX with lots to see

Thanks! It was great meeting you. I wish that you would have brought me some more grease

I was having fun driving the arch all day, but it got slick this afternoon and was denying everybody. I think I ran a total of 10 packs through the rig this weekend, and it took a bunch of falls off the arch... with no broken parts 8)

I'll keep the ball rolling next week with Socalrcrc's round #4 comp in Forest Falls, CA. 6 comps in 8 weeks... No rest for the weary!

I have a question on the dig in the transmission. The dig itself is just engaged or freewheel, correct? The reason I am asking is possibly thinking of using this transmission in a different rig with Axial axles, but the digs would only be full time 4wd or freewheel, no locking of the driveshafts.

That is correct, the trans is either engaged or freewheel. Without the worm gears, the axles would just freewheel.

It may not work as well in a comp rig, but who knows... I'm sure you guys can do some cool stuff with it 8)

Unless your planning on this setup not being a crawler it will not work. I can't recall the ratio off the top of my head, but with our transmission and the Axial axles, you might as well be running a XX4 or something similar, it's geared that "high". I tried it LOL. Our transmission must be used with axles that are geared similar to ours for crawler use.
Hope this makes sense.

Makes sense, I just wanted to make sure my thinking was correct. I have heard more than one person say "I am not sure about worm drive and want to use my Axial axles with the Losi transmission" and was thinking about this yesterday at work...lol.

Team Brood 35 turn handwound

Well for the past few weeks I've been running a Brushed motor in my Losi and just wanted to post some pics and tech for everyone.

I'm using a Team Brood 35t handwound geared with a 18 tooth pinion and Mamba Max speedo, all powered by a Losi 3s lipo pack.

The power you get is about the same at a 55 turn and 3s in a TLT or Axial type crawler. You'll have plenty of torque and wheel speed and get about 30 minutes of runtime out of it. Nothing gets hot or shuts down so this setup is a great starting point if you don't want to go brushless with your rig.

Here's some pics...
