Losi 1/10th Roller

Nice! I can't wait to get it "thumbsup"

I have a question though. What about the gearing? Main complaint I've heard from Rock Force owners is the gearing is too low due to the worm gears. Is the gearing gonna be so low we'll need 3s and a high KV bl motor to get enough wheelspeed out of it?

The gearing is not as low as the RF but we are still finalizing the gearing for the Comp Crawler. Keep in mind the Comp Crawler in the video a prototype/preproduction model. There may be some changes, but not many.
As soon as we finalize the ratios, we will post them. We want to make sure it's right before it's released.

Love all the features. It never ceases to amaze me of the engineering marvels that many RC cars are and that if you think about what you are really getting, the price is quite incredible.

Very true... It amazes me how "cheap" they can sell the things for.
NICE JOB LOSI8)"thumbsup"

i say sack up, go to sears and get some tools. the more tools a man has the of a man he is!! haha i could care less what tools i need i will lose those too.

Beat me to it, help stimulate the economy even more, buy more tools!

as far as wishing for a kit to build. its a crawler and its going to break or "need" to be tweaked so i see this thing being taken apart many times. at least mine will when i get it.

X2 there too, for some odd reason I've found that I learn more about a given vehicle is I just grow a pair and start ripping it apart that starting with a box full of assorted parts. Plus I know how it's suposed to behave before I get teh chance to screw it up;-)

$300 for a roller..................................check
$250 for a motor/esc...........................check
$250 for a radio...................................check
$150 for a battery and charger...............check
$100+ for servos..................................check

$50 for tools to work on it......................WTF!
:ror:

 Did you see in the video @ 3:35 this thing will crawl almost upside down..Must be the camera angle :???:

I dont mind the SAE hardware so much...

I used to race touring car, and stadium truck a few years back and have all the tools from then..

I'll just have to stock up on more hardware

Same thing I thought the first time I watched it. I was like how the hell??? But then I see they rotated the camera 90*. Look at the sky on the right, it should be on top. Oh well, still a cool vid. I can't wait to see it using dig more, a long steep climb from the front and side and some nice side hill shots.

So as I understand it, the worm gear axles stop dead the second power is cut to them. I wonder then if you would notice a difference between an ESC with brakes and one without on this truck. I wouldn't think so...

No need for drag brake or any brake with worm gears "thumbsup"

Rich, do you have any diff clearance comparison shots with another axle?

I don't have any comparision shots but using Rock Claws with no weight in the rear wheels it has almost 2" of ground clearance.
The front weighted down had approx 1.6"

With the shock arms set in the lowest position for max droop, depending on the preload or if you hold the chassis so the tires touch the ground there is 3" of "belly" clearance. I realize that is not static ride height, but it's gotta help :)

I left the Crawler at work and you'd think I'd remember the damn hex to hex width but I can't remember for the life of me right now LOL. I"ll get that for you guys on Monday.

also that section of video climbing upside down was using our "Air Hog" option LOL (just in case, that is a joke)

Rich

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I'll measure some of mine this evening to compare.

BTW, I LOVE that diff housing profile...it is nice and smooth and looks like it has a ton more clearance than TLT or Axial.

Hey Rich, it's great to see the designer in the forums actually answering questions about his product. "thumbsup" I only wish you had released this info 3 weeks ago before I bought my Rock Force. You could have saved me $450!

The only advantage I see to the RF axles is being able to freewheel the rear axle as well as the sheer beefiness of the axles themselves. The downside to the RF axles is that they're too wide and there's lots of screws on the bottom to snag on rocks. Your axles look nice an smooth. Well done.

I'm eagerly awaiting it's release, but please don't rush this to the market. And make sure that durability is one of your top priorities.

Hi Rich, I'm a long time Losi/AE fan from the UK (first real car was a JoMac Lightning after the Tamiya Rough Rider era)

As much as I love the Comp Ready concept, will Losi be releasing a kit version for us bench racers?

...might even be a cheaper option too ;)

Kev

Really impressed with the info and the looks of this so far. High end chassis, shocks, cvd's, beadlocks, and a dig tranny included...not to mention the best tires on the market, all assembled and ready to drop electronics into. Always been a supporter of the "build it, don't buy it" motto with my crawlers...this rig and LOSI have changed my thinking;-)

maybe I missed it but what is the final gear ratio ?.... I hear there is concern that to get any wheel speed you would need a puller motor or a hi-end brushless system? any truth to this??

Still working on final specs according to the man.
