Life of one YETI - Tom Frajer's Axial Yeti build log

if you unlock the rear diff, i would use more stiffer oil, 1.000.000 CST maybe. 500.000cst most of us use in the front diff, rear should be more locked i think.

They would if the Currie was wider like the SSD housing.

So they do not work, right?
Anyway, I hope that opening rear diff + shorter hubs + titanium shafts will help to eliminate my problem with bending shafts. Front end has open diff and I never experienced bent shaft here - and I do not believe that front wheels are not taking such a harsh impact in my rollovers - of course they are :)

If I'm home i can measure my spare ssd wide axle
Will post a pic then.

No they won't work because SSD only does that type hex mount on their wide axles. The front don't bent because they can move which is probably what breaks the rod end on the servo link all the time and narrow slw's to, means less of the levering action the wide one's creates. If the Ti axles are going to have to be made for you ask them if they can make them with the flats instead of the holes, and then get the SSD Ti hex's. But you'll still probably have to go to the narrowest slw's on the rear to totally fix the axle bending.

Just ordered parts needed for opening rear diff and also more SLW hubs. Once everything arrive I will have selection of all sizes of SLW hubs ranging from .225 to .850 so I can experiment little bit.
I will have one pait of lightly bent rear axle shafts that I straightened + new set of Vanquish shafts + new set of CBRB titanium shafts.

I will open the diff, put .225 hubs on together with straightened shafts and run it. If everything will be OK after few runs, I will swap to .350 hubs, run it again couple of time, size up again to .475, run, etc.
Once I find good hub size, I will swap shafts for new Vanquish ones, run more packs with them and finally swap to titanium shafts once I will be sure standard ones will hold up well.

That is my idealistic plan. I will probaly trash something else and unexpected before I get to my goal :lmao:
Now comes the waiting - approx. two weeks for the parts to arrive. I should move forward to painting my body :)

Still have no response from Vanquish. I tried to contact them via form on their site as they did not responded to our ongoing email communication for a week.
Seems they do not want to deal with me anymore and I do not know why. I was not rude or something... I also checked my SPAM folder.

Is someone from the Vanquish on this forum? Im wondering if they let it be and I will have to buy anotheir pair of C Blocks because of their mistake?

So far great products from Vanquish, but very bad customer support :(

Keep head up.[emoji41]
Glad that I don't have to figure it out with them.
I tried to Contact crawler Innovation and Carter Fab (2 times) over 1 month ago. got no response.
On the other Hand wrote heyok an pm here, got answer in minutes.
There should be someone from Vanquish around here. Just checked vendors section, hope that maybe this Channel will work for u.

Finally I have some response from Vanquish and they will send me correct C Block :)

I hope they will improve response time of their customer support. They make great products and it will be very nice to see if they can make superb customer experience by replying fast in the future :)

Swapped rear wheel hubs from .850 to shorter .600 and it seems to reduce axle shaft bending. After hard bashing and many rollovers they bent a tiny bit but I see much of improvement in this area...

I also installed Vanquish hexes for the rear...

And shortened long RPM rod ends on the upper rear links. I simply cut them to 25mm and now have same size on both sides. No breakage and they seems OK after last hard run!

I just got message from Vanquish and they will send me correct caster block and extra pair of rear axle shafts for my experiments! Things are turning brighter again! [emoji4]

Today it is rainy day here in Prague. Good time for some washing! I went through whole 2S pack (3S not charged), submarined lots of deep puddles, run mostly sandy and rocky surfaces near local garages. Lot of flipovers, NO DAMAGE!

Rear upper links are holding well, steering link is holding well and shafts are not bent (or only little, that is acceptable). I will go further down to .475 hubs once they arrive and put CBRB titanium shafts in.

If nothing will break in next 10 packs I can call it bombproof [emoji6]

Now my concern is becoming: "do I have enough batteries?" [emoji13]

Yes I have one small problem I forgot to mention. Integy rear cage stiffener is loosing screws [emoji13] One is already gone, second is very loose... This came preassembled and it is probably not glued at all. Already contacted Integy support and have... lets gues! No response [emoji12]

how long are your run time on your packs.
i have 5800 packs and after last test run aprox 45-60 min with mostly full throttle they are at 40% 8) and i have 3 of them

Feels like 10 minutes! When checking my watch it is roughly 40 minutes on 2S 8000 mAh and 30 minutes on 3S 4300 mAh. Im smashing full throtrle all the time on 2S as it is slow with underdriven bevel gears. On 3S I release throttle from time to time [emoji56]

I will swap my motor pinion from 16 to 19. Later maybe buy Robinson Racing 56T spur gear (now have RR 64T).

And somewhere in the back of my mind, occasionally thought about 4S surfaces [emoji48]
