Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

When going that light, it looks like you can get the crawling and the sidehilling and even the breakover dialed in pretty easily. How do you get the steep climbing back?

I've been comping with my other truck so I can play around with the lightweight stuff on the XR. I can get it down to about 4lbs and 14oz, but beyond that it won't climb.

I can get more traction in the rear with link placement, but it will pitch back. Otherwise, it will climb smooth until it gets to a surface irregularity then it begins to skip, slip, and go off line.

I know you, Shelby and Malachi all mentioned troubles climbing during your builds... What did you tune at that point to get past it?

I know it's a whole different chassis than what I drive, but the principles should apply.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

The t1e isn't going to lend itself to a really light setup. Upper link placement is critical to keeping the truck driving straight

My guess is massive forward bias.

The only time I have issues climbing is when I pulled the knuckle weights off. Otherwise the bias on my car is the same whether it's 4lbs or 6lbs...

sorry harvo, but i think nabil landed that one right on the nose.

i dont and i dont believe he means it in a negative mannor, but the light weight truck needs to be formulated with that in mind during conception.

link placement, not positions is key...

i believe the only time those guys had any issues is when there was zero added weight. the day will come when that is possible but we will need to lighten alot more to do it.

my current weight position (though it was questioned) has been the biggest noticable difference in performance for me at 4 lbs. at this weight it seems the slightest adjustments are noticable.

My guess is massive forward bias.

it helps but my theory is:

if the truck will not even try to do it with no weight there must be a fundamental flaw in geo...
now i dont mean that in a negative way to any other chassis , just that there has to be a way to get propper weight transfer and performance from link geo itself...
then use minimal weight to assist in areas of performance that need over exageration ie: long steep climbs.

how many times have you been on a steep vert and just sat there, spun and hopped...so you put your finger gently on the front axle and it goes right up.

thats where we are with no added weight right now. all we are looking for is that slight amount to help it out, but not effect us negatively in other areas..

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

That definitely makes sense.

I "hope' to start putting this thing together this weekend sometime. I don't run spacers under my upper link posts, so hopefully I can get it dialed pretty good without them. Gonna go to 540 cans as well. Still undecided if I want to stick with the SCX shocks (which feel kinda inconsistent compared to big bores), but otherwise I think I have most things setup in my head.

I tihink you are overdue on posting an updateed setup sheet.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Hey krawl, what link kit is that or are those custom made by you? Those look perfect to me. If you sell them how much are they? Thanks

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

You have to tell me were you get your Silver CF I've been searching the Web all day long for it with no results! I just need a little sheet of it.

That Looks awesome!
