Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

I like where you are going with the knuckle weights."thumbsup" How about a minimalist profiled CF plate with Delrin standoffs to a tapped brass disk?

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

If you look at the first pic, it looks like 2 holes are drilled into the knuckle. One above the universal, one below.
DAMN..YOUR GOOD:lmao:
I noticed after cutting mine angled it also keeps the weight below the axle center when turning.

You move the weight around less when your turning.

Going back to Nabils post about the 8* knuckles and raising the weight. It helps keep the weight low. You don't raise the cog when steering.

Nice job on moving the weight out.

Thanks
Just gotta say I love the new chassis. First time driving it since I built it and finished 2nd by 3 points at our local comp. Also won the shootout course. I'd say that's not too bad for never even driving the rig before.
excellent.
Rig looks great Jeremy but....

Got a chance to get these 454 in to the rig. 4lb 8oz rtr!!!!

That would be well over a year ago.
That's cool but your still 8-10 oz over where we are running with very powerfully and smooth starting motors....and the trucks work too.
I WANT !!!!!

Do you glue these on the bead before the final assembly of the wheel?

Will they be fore sale soon.

The tires get mounted and glued with the wheel assembled...they really are very simple.

It's like you are reading my mind....
I am messing with standoffs and a pocketed delrin blank.

I am leaning torwards the blank because the surface will be flat and with strengthen the assembly from any flex.

The brass has been scheduled to be tapped from the get go. There will be an out side plate with threads and all adjusting plates brass or delrin will have through holes.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Can your router/controller do simultaneous 3 axis movement? I played with a similar idea, well it was Casey's idea, and the inner bore around the hub had to be tapered. This is the case with VP AX knucks at least. I'm probably over-thinking it though.

It can..

I played with it a bit.

I started on a vanquish half style delrin base but ended up going with the minimalist aproach, basically eliminating the in depth programming and cutting times involved....

Basically I got lazy...and I kinda have a thing for that space age carbon fiber crap....

On a serious note. Why not try making a deep pocket delrin piece with tungsten epoxy in the pocket. Then you could really put a lot of mass far forwad and out wide?

Hahahahaha...

I would prefer to stay away from putty. Something I can machine just looks better to me. I have tungsten slugs already if I decide to go that route.

I am hoping to only need 1.5 oz. That will keep me under 4 lbs.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

with a 700 hub i can 3.9 oz completley inside the wheel.. i will still cut the ring but this is the most i could possibly fit with a 700 hub that i run.

here is the 1/4" blank i cut, i have an 1/8" as well.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Very nice man. Definitely seems like it would help for sure"thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

gotta love when a plan comes together....

first two pictures show the relation to the base style weights i was running.

with them shaved down they were exactly 2 oz...

now with the new design the same exact 2 oz is farther out and in front of the axle center (the majotity any way) and with some driving actually feels more like 3.5 4 oz.

proximity to the wheel face.

all buttoned up"thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Really? Just by moving them fore and out that small amount?

indeed!

when i went to the base weights only (2oz) my bias point moved back @ 1/4 " from the 3.85 oz per corner i was using before.

with the new setup it has actually moved back to where i started.

i went from splitting the difference of 2oz (1oz in front of the axle center and 1oz behind axle center) to almost a full 2 oz in front of axle center.
