Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Every body is copoying everybody. Everyone but me has a VP10. Every Berg has a turned down axle tube. Every one running a bodied rig has an X-Citer on it. blah blah blah.

A good design is a good design, and ultimately, if a design works well, then someoe will take notice, make slight changes to it, and call it their own.

When losi came out with the XX and it's composite chassis, everyone was soon to follow. Then Losi switched back to aluminum, which was AE's bread and butter for years. i don't give a rats ass who came up with it first, as long as the ish i'm running works.

I'm gonna design my own ish, and call it the "Generic"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Every Berg has a turned down axle tube.

I have the only Berg with .029" wall 4130 rear tube tubes and stock OD front tubes:flipoff:

Not sure how or why the RT was brought up today but I'm going to have to ask you, Jeremy, to change your number of upper link holes. You see the XR RT already has 3 rears and 4 fronts:roll:

Oh, to set the record straight. We didn't copy the Losi shock arm, we used them!

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Give me a break.......

I have trouble telling them apart sometimes at comps, I don't expect some newb that hops on the site after buying an xr from his local hobby store to be able to.

Is there an actual written rule? I always assumed that it was just a "code of honor" between vendors to not take a persons idea and copy it.

When I had questions about people copying a product my interpretation was that if you do not have your product patented then STFU and move on. Some will honor the code, some will straight up copy you and tell you to eff off.

IMO it would be great to have something to go off of whether it be something written or, if there is a question between vendors, just make a post with a poll and let the people of RCC decide if the "copied" part should be allowed to be sold.

The problem with writing something down is the definition. By law, I would guess that CC chassis would not be in violation of the BJ chassis if it were patented. Whether or not its in violation of the "code of honor", well I dont think anything is written to clearly define this so that cannot be decided (the whole problem here). I would think it would be great if it was written. It would be saving Krawl and CC a lot of drama and stress right now.

I really hope we don't need a rule that says you can't copy someone's parts and sell them on your own. I don't think Chaotic copied it, it just looks VERY similar.

Why did you have questions about copying parts?

I just think its sad when people (NOT CHAOTIC) completely rip off someone else's hard work by making a direct copy and selling it for their profit. Its just not right and anyone that does it should be stopped.

I remember Stage 3 Racing used someone elses preorder list to try and sell their parts and got run through the ringer. That was not near as bad as selling complete copies IMO. (Once again not talking about chaotic)

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Looks good Krawl! What do you think about this chassis being paired with ti fighters? Keep up the great work.

The problem is that you need to draw a line and have a definite "copied", "not copied" definition. CC chassis obviously is not exact, some seem to think its close enough, some dont think so.

I am sure CC, in hindsight would have loved to see this coming and made some changes so everybody is happy. I am sure Krawl would have really liked that too. We have nothing set in place, so we have this....

i have been contacted by many vendors here and i have done the same to see if there are to many similarities in a product or design concept to continue with praise or to start a new direction.

that would have been a start, with that said it even goes with a vendor merging individual chassis together (like a secret agent and a t1e moonguggy) without the praise of both vendors.

it is one thing to make it for yourself but another to profit from it.

it is plain out disrespectful. not illegal, not really even anything said vendors could do about it, but said vendors can't be hated on because they bring it to light.

i think you will end up with rather short uppers with this chassis and most others as well.

i will test fit a set and see.

I thought with the new design upper link mounts on the production pieces that most any chassis would work fine.

Ha ha that was a good one! Good deal let me know what you come up with. Thanks Jeremy

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Any chance the cab design will be available for the 4.0? Or will the 3.5 cab fit the 4.0 and be comp legal? Looks very nice by the way. "thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Sick!
Please tell me the CF panels will be an available option.

What's your preload on the scx shocks set at?

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

So I'm away RCC for a few days and... BAM! 3 pages of drama

I've got no problem with the chassis Jeremy. I'm glad to see someone else pushing the limits of this stuff. Other than both rigs being kinda pope mobile-ish, they aren't that similar.

Oh and a 1/32" chassis?? :shock::shock::shock:
