JimK's Random Tiny Truck Adventures

Not sure if you're up for an adoption but I'm more than happy to be your 56 year old grandson and the wife says that I'm ready to go to a good home immediately!

Absolutely beautiful getaway digs you've got there and looks like you're having a great summer with the family and the relaxation. Thanks for posting this thread... great pics, trail tales, and humor. Hope you'll post more.
I'll run it by the wife but I wouldn't start packing just yet. Our youngest daughter and her boyfriend just moved out last week and we're looking forward to being empty nesters again....lol

So cool! Such a great setup for the tiny trucks!

Great to see the family involved. I really need to get something like this setup in the backyard for the grandkids.

Thanks Brian. We have a lot of fun together with the tiny trucks. It's nice that these obstacles don't take up much room either when I'm not using them.

Well the family has grown quite a bit the last few years so we've decided to group some of the birthdays together and have one celebration for all of them. With everyones busy schedule it's much easier to get together a single time instead of many separate occasions. There's four August birthdays so we got together on the weekend at my daughter and son in law's home for a nice birthday bbq. The weather was absolutely perfect....sunny and warm with a nice breeze. Once we had all finished eating I broke out the tiny trucks and my portable obstacles and set up a little course in the back yard. The grandkids were busy doing grandkid things so today the big kids had fun on the course.

Here's Jason at the wheel of the Gladiator. He picked this truck because he drives one in the real world.

We ended up having a blast and ran through two battery packs in each vehicle before it was all said and done. We also ended up running some time trials over the course each taking turns with the same truck to keep things equal. We sat and had a couple beers and a few laughs when we were done. Before I left the boys were on there phones looking at the different TRX4M models and accessories and asking all kinds of questions. A father in laws guidance is so important!! lol

Put up a little shelf in the man cave today. I needed a spot for my tiny tiny trucks. I'm happy with how it turned out and it fits the character of the room nicely.

Took the Defender out for a little drive on Friday. It was pretty nice out, cool and dry with no bugs.

Over the teeter totter we go.

Then off through the canyon.

Very nice display shelf!"thumbsup"

Always a good day when the bugs aren't out!:ror: The stink bugs here have been absolutely terrible. Luckily it has cooled off and they've gone into hiding!

Thanks B. I like the fall weather for many reasons especially the lack of mosquitoes!!

I took my Furitek Bettle to work with me today for a little fun on the course out back. A nice cool, dry day with some coloured leaves scattered here and there on the course.

There's not much on this course to really challenged the Turtle but it was fun to get it down off the shelf and take it for a little spin. :)

Did a little wrenching this afternoon for one of the guys at work. His sweet little Chevy truck had a broken shock. He doesn't yet have any rc tools so I offered to put his new shocks on for him.

It doesn't drive very good like this.

Turns out the shock wasn't actually broken. The shock shaft had come unscrewed from the spring perch.

Putting the same shocks back on just in a nice orange colour to match the wheels.

I got out for a nice little trail run today before work. Nice and sunny out but cold as all get out!! Wasn't bad in the woods when I got out of the wind. Shiny Red was the tiny truck of choice today.

I headed back to my new found trailing spot alongside the Greenway.

Off into the woods we go.

Did a few laps of the forest round about. Not a fan of round abouts in the real world but I guess they're okay in tiny truck land.

And off down the trail we go deeper into the woods.

I stood on the bank and drove out onto the frozen marsh.

Spent a little time weaving in and out and all around between the trees. The choice of routes here was endless.

Time to head back up the bank and get on down the trail. My transmitter started beeping at this point due to low batteries but I decided to take my chances and continued down the trail anyway. Lucky for me they held out for the rest of the journey.

I stayed on the trail for a little while and decided at one point to venture off and do a little trail blazing in the fresh snow up over this little ridge.

e1558489b4da7f0a86f7a55513808ae7.jpg

Made it up and over this bridge with no issues....slow and steady.

Decided to head off the trail again and down the embankment to the frozen pond in the background.

It was steep but Shiny Red stayed pretty well composed on the way down.

We made it to the long narrow frozen pond. It was frozen thick enough that I was able to follow along the edge and not have to bushwhack my way through the forest to keep up.

There just happened to be a trail at the far end of the pond that took us up the bank and back to the main trail.

Try as I might, I was not able to drive up the steep snowy bank....luckily hand of God was still available to help out.

I got out for a little trail run yesterday before work. I wanted to take the Cherokee out but we got a couple inches of fresh snow and I had a feeling the snow was a little too deep so I opted for the Marksman instead.

There was plenty of spots were the snow was too deep to drive through but there was just as many spots that were drivable. This would be one of the deep spots.

abad9b0c4d37d436dfe6eab89fc99da4.jpg

I learned that if I walked ahead and trampled the snow down a little it was enough that the truck could make it's way down the trail.

All in all it was another fun adventure on the snowy trails. We're expecting a couple more inches of snow tonight which might make it impossible to drive tiny trucks on these trails. I suppose I could go in with my snowshoes and pack the snow down first??

I was out for just under an hour and a half and my 3200 mah 3S pack lasted the whole time. I thought that was pretty good considering how cold it was and the extra strain of driving in the deep snow.
