Interest in Rally?

Tb02 has similar bath tub chassis to the Tb01 but uses the EVOIII gear cases, ball diffs, etc. and uses the TA04 suspension components (shock towers, arms etc.) Car has a ton of adjustment options, definately aimed at the touring car crowd. No dirt cover/shield.

Eh, the ball diffs are not really suitable for rally so it might be something to stay away from for these purposes? Unless this one comes with a gear diff, I'll have to check. Dirt shield is not really an issue for me. I'm looking into making one for the above RS4 and it would only be a matter of time to make the one for whatever other vehicle I might get.

Yep ball diffs suck for the dirt...that's why my sc10/df03/xx-cr/bk1 all have them...they suck so bad they hook up and translate grip horribly.... guess ill have to use my unsuitable diffs for hauling ass;-):lmao::lmao::lmao:

Just basing it off this:

Granted the TB02 has some characteristic suited for rally the TB01 is a better platform. The reason the TB01 lived for nearly 10 years is because of rally.
...
As I have said before if you put a brushless motor to the ball diffs of the DF03RA you will melt the rear diff down, no way around it. There may be more tuning available for ball differentials, but they can not handle the power like a gear diff can. I know because I have gone through several diffs as have several people I know who have DF03RAs.
...
You may have ok luck with the ball diffs, but drive it a couple times a week for a couple years with a 5700 or 3500kv motor and let me know how it works out.

And all the threads on other forums about melting TB02 diffs. Some of them suggest getting TB EVO III reinforced diff joints, or the one-way or spools. The reinforced joints go for $50 for one diff. Since I don't want to spend as much on the car just to prevent melted diffs, I'd rather just find another RS4 EVO 3 with hardened steel gears and gear diffs to begin with...

This vehicle would be for my brother, so really it's his decision, but he's a little more ignorant to this kind of thing, so I want to make sure he's getting something he doesn't have to worry about.

the diffs have only been melting like that from using high burst batteries and brushless...using the slipper peg mod in the rear can be done with out the metal cups...im running it that way...just better with the metal ones...front diff is fine...ran the df on brushed 17t with no issues no mods...a ball diff with junk in it..one that has way too much power sent through it or one that just hasnt been taken care of right will nuke..so if your looking for a more bashable car then yes use gear diffs...but ball diffs do work very very well in the dirt if they are treated well

Trying to get the Rally and Trophy ready. How much water do you expect Ty? Grizz gave me his ESC waterproofing method, and I'm about to start on both tonight. Planning on ballooning both receivers as well.

That is a good question. I heard rumor we may get more snow on Monday. I plan to go out there Monday afternoon and check it out.

If there is a bunch of snow I will dig most of it off the track. If it ends up being soupy again like a couple of races ago I will drag some sand down there.

So either way I am going to try and keep the track reasonably dry.

UNLESS its cold all week and snows close to next weekend then I will just snow pack the track.

How is that for a flip floppy answer?:ror:

All Jason needs to do is come watch Rodney race and see how many rocks he hit  :lmao:

J/K Rodney :ror:

Finally got around to cleaning my junk. What a mess!

Ordered a couple sets of dog-bones, so I should be ready to go soon.
