Interest in Rally?

ooohh that df is sick! too bad im broke:lmao:

Not a bad deal at all.

For tires I don't really care what we do I just don't want them to get any bigger and ruin the look of these rigs for photos.

I guess though, we are starting to get to a point were we should make some "guidelines" so people know what to expect when they come out and play.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I hate you Jason!

I agree 100% with your logic.

Chris and I talked about this regarding the Short Course trucks. He said he was drawn to them because of the scale appearance, but without regulation everyone started showing up with buggy wheels, and they looked just like the buggy cars.

I love the looks of these trucks and cars, and if they turn into buggy track vehicles, I'm out. Honestly, I have no problem with a Stock Tire rule, but the tinkerer in me hates the wobble of my wheels....look at the scrub marks on my truck arms! On flat ground at speed, my truck vibrates like a Larry Flint stocking stuffer.

I can run any tire, but can we at least run decent wheels?

I was kind of hoping you would give a ruling on my Homebrew question 8)

Anything you want as long as you make it yourself.

Shananigans! lol..... must be nice be able to make rims lol....just kidding....its the jealous bastage in my back pocket talkin lol an idea for rims could be hpi 1.9 or stock...lots of rims from hpi...thought hpi truck...hpi rims?....or just 1.9 with an offset that keeps it in the body when the suspension is compressed?

About your spacer things? I don't mind em' I think as long as your not changing the suspension travel, track width, wheelbase, tire size, wheel size, approach and departure angles its copasetic.

No about making your own parts in general. Can I make my own wheels, if they match the HPI's....except of course round?

I don't see a problem with homemade parts, though you are really one of the only ones to have the means to do it. I think as long as it falls within the guidelines we are putting in place its not a big deal.

I see your point. I'll look for alternatives before I go that route.

Suspension tuning should certainly be allowed. I don't have any problem with guys changing the shocks.

As for wheels, I think any 1.9 wheel should be allowed. HPI touring car wheels, Tamiya, RC4WD beadlocks, that gives us more options to personalize these things.

My personal vote is that we all run the stock tires.

My speed calculator shows the brushed truck at 17.7 mph and the Flux version at 24.9 mph. I don't think anyone wants to stick to brushed motors so I think the best thing to do is open it up. The only other thing we could do is speed check them but I don't think anyone wants to do that.

FYI here are some numbers I came up with:
15T,2S,18/90 gearing = 17.7 mph
4800kv,2S,18/90 gearing = 24.9 mph
3500kv,2S, 18/90 gearing = 18.2 mph
3800kv,2S, 18/90 gearing = 19.7 mph
5000kv,2S, 18/90 gearing = 26.0 mph

These numbers include the 70% and 90% efficiency of brushed and brushless motors.
Mine

Edit:

Oh yeah, I hate you Jason!
Yahooooo!!!! Great news Juan!! "thumbsup"

So as long as we stay under 25 mph we're good?...sounds good to me.

You're just happy because I won't be disgracing your car anymore :ror:

I figured out that my 9.6v NiMh packs will fit so Im gonna run them with the brushed motor until I burn up my motors. That will give me 18 mph after I gear down to reduce the load on the motor. Then I'll put the VXL in on 3S.

Between the three of us, Jason is the only one that makes that car look good on the track. :ror:
