Interest in Rally?

You need to be there next time. And yes, changing the wheels is legal for the TT's. I ran the HPI stock car wheels and Jason ran the Tamiya Hummer wheels. Just something to change up the look a bit. 8)

Hobby Town Longmont had a brushed Mini trophy for $174.99 on Wed when I was there. I stopped at Hobby Town Westminster on my home yesterday and they have one too.......Just sayin'........

i just got mine in the mail yesterday - towerhobbies has em on the easy pay plan - $59 a month for 3 months. SOLD!

Are you guys running brushed or did you already swap in brushless systems? I know Jason has the vxl in his already, what are you guys running?

What about this set-up on the Mini?

Castle Creations 1/10 Sidewinder Short Course System + 3800

I think that's the way I'm headed....... Works great in the rally car.

That is a great option Jocko. That is a touch faster than Jason VXL (3500 KV) but if you gear down to a 14T pinion like Jason it would be very comperable and should be reliable. "thumbsup"

Currently we are all brushed except for Jason. Expect that to change soon though. However, my brushed TT running a 4500 mAh NiMh was still very competitive with Jason's running VXL and LiPo, so don't feel you need to upgrade to keep up.

Just ordered one, so we'll see how it goes :ror:

I was looking at that setup today myself. I might do the same so that I don't have to steal yet another ESC to run Brushless.

Speaking of ESC's, what should I set my drag brake to on my BR-XL? I want a good setting so that I can dominate.

By the way Chris, you were right....cleaned out the spur and it's good as new.

Exactly! If you would have been there this weekend Juan you would have gotten the setup tips offered by Jason and I explaining the benefits of 213% drag brake.

I've got a VXL and a Castle 4600, one of them may end up in mine before the next race if I can't find what I want online.

That is the motor I have sitting on my work bench to put in mine, I'm sick of cooking brushed motors.

10 people viewing? When did we get some popular?

Mine just showed up today. Since it did not come with a motor and it seems like most are leaning toward brushless. I would much rather have the reliability, I'm going to stick a Traxxas VXL in there. I will control it with a Mamba Max powered by 5000mah 2 cell Lipos.

If I had another Castle 3800Kv motor I would run that. I have that in my rally and it's a great motor! I did not have much luck with the SCT esc. I think I may have gotten a bad one though. I tried it in a Kyosho Blizzard and it lasted all of about 2 minutes. I do have to say though, Castle has some of the best customer service out there and had no issues getting it replaced at no cost.

Just to make sure, a 14t pinion is equal in speed to the stock set-up? Not that speed will help me, I just don't want to be too damn fast and have to try to change it out there in the field.

todd...the replacement is working awesome!/....my buddy say thanx again ...no issues with it..well only pilot error of sorts...he put a 9110t in it and now needs a ccbec lol...i put my sc10 electronics in the rally and did a bunch of swapping and such between my rs4's,hopefully it will stay together this time...when i can come up with some more cash ill be picking up another mini trophy....you guys make me miss mine lol

What length shocks are best for a dual-rear set-up? I've read the Blitz shocks are a good option. Any opinions?

Its a little faster I think, but about the same speed as Rodney's HH 16 turn motor he was running. You only noticed the speed in the straights as the flew off the track.:lmao:

I think the track is so technical now that there really can't be a speed advantage. But don't quote me on that.:ror:

I just emptied and filled my stock shock with Losi 50...I'm also moving them to the rear before I go dual shocks.

Wait a minute...this really limits down travel. Going with XR-10 shocks on the rear.

I'm typing and working at the same time :ror:
