Hillbilly's barrage upgrade bible!

I only know of two guys that have broke axles. One had a og barrage and sold him my axles after I made the move to a true 1/10 axle and Pete.

HARDBODY with a 242mm wb, i wouldn't mind this on a barrage!

(Nissan patrol? can anyone identify?)
** Thanks to Pabust in the paint and body thread, he identified this as a Suzuki Jimny (specifically: 3rd gen 1998-present)! rad!

Have a look at the Facebook groups hillbilly. Unfortunately, breaking axle shafts in any variants of this truck is very common.

Maybe that's why I haven't seen any I don't do that book of faces propaganda mill thing. I used to but not anymore and much happier now.

Anyways back to better axle options you could always xr mod the axles and get strength and steering. It cost a bit more to set up but you shouldn't be breaking those axle shafts with a 380/390 motor.

Thanks HB,

I wish I were strong enough to give up Crackbook.

Anyway, I'll look into what 'xr modding' the axles means. I really want to love oyr BOOrrage, it just has been so hard to do, lol.

Cheers,
MP

Check out outbroading shocks in the first post. There is a link to the dravtech adaptors. So you can use xr10/wraith/bomber c-hub and knuckles in front and lockouts in back with cut down axle shaft and filed to fit the spool. The also have a shock and link mount on them but have 3 mm holes for both. they could possibly be taken off to use the stock link/shock location.

Thanks again HBRC,

A local RC buddy has an SCX10 he's not using, so I think I can get the axles and trans. for cheap. From what I've read, it seems like a pretty easy mod to run the SCX10 axles and trans on the Barrage.

Yes it is. I'm using redcat everest10 axles in mine and mewalsh100 used scx10 axles and trans and skid along with rear shock hoops front and back and I believe chassis braces. Search through the last 10-12 page of the 1.9 barrage thread everything he did is well documented in there and he loves the truck and says its fun to drive.

Both need the proper holes drilled but I used the redcat servo mount as a template to print this one.

I’m excited to start modifications on the gen 2 DD I just ordered! I will be reading more and tune in to this thread. Can’t believe we can XR mod these.

The DD rtr showed up at the house last evening. I couldn't let it sit.... I had to remove the body, wheels, tires...... Question? Does this doomsday version come with metal spools and gears? Same question with regards to the transmission? I need to decide now if its worth the effort to beef up the axles or swap in some built 10.2 axles I have already. I really like the idea of the narrow track of the barrage axles if it is worth it...... Help Hillbilly"thumbsup"

No barrage came with a metal spool all plastic there. Ring gear and pinion is metal. And sadly the trans is plastic. I thought mrc trans gears would work but read a big no on that.

The 390 motor might keep gears in the trans if not I still have the trans from mine.

I read today the spool from redcat are back in stock.

The baroncho setup is becoming increasingly popular.

Sweet and thanks again for putting this bible together. This post helped me decide to pick up the Barrage. I'm currently building a Toyota FJ40 with the Barrage kit.
