Highmark's new CJ - Alby

That's not a proline hood & grill, where'd you get it. I just couldn't cut up my last CJ8 body for the hood & grill so I decided to make my own alloy hood and machine a grill. Looks like it'll compete with mine when done.

Looking good! I like the use of old school stuff in this build. Chassis looks great! "thumbsup"

Thanks man! I'm thrilled you dig it, I've always been a huge fan of your stuff

Haha yeah you caught me, it's one of the old Madscrambler shells that he made a few years back. I bought two, picked up another two later and a few of the Pro-lines, this is kind of the worse of the bunch. Funny enough I'm mid building my own grill from styrene and I plan on building some molds from this hood to make some aluminum hoods later on. I think it's kinda cool that we're doing a lot of the same stuff but with different styles :)

Not that different, mine will a KOH style rock rig. How do you plan on making the mold? I've got a few CJ8s I could play with. Also making a second grill right now. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see it done.

I'm going to wing it with help from this thread:

I figure trying to do this crap yourself is half the fun :ror:

Thanks for the encouragement man!

Sweet it just seems that .006 is a little thin. I used some .030 I think, it should take some abuse before it needs replacing.

This project is dead for now ...

I burnt my hand after putting some finnishing touches on the frame last night and dropped it on the concrete in the garage. The fall severely bent two of the fenders, and a frame rail that I had just done some silver solder work on (probably because it wasnt cool yet) thus ruining the frame ...

Kinda hurts with the frame being soooo close to completion, but I guess this gives me the oppurtunity to make some improvements or build something different ...

Stay tuned!
:flipoff:
