HB Rover Review

Just got a set of 4 and have yet to mount them. I noticed that there seems to be 2 to 4 "dimples" per tire. What i mean is that they are "out of round" before mounting. Is this normal of did i just happen to get 2 packs of bad tires?

Thats just from sitting in the packaging. Mine had the same thing. Once you mount them with some foams that fit the tire that goes away. The foams that come with it are too small. if you look at the bottom of the last page you can see what i did with my tires and it worked wonders.

I'm running my Rovers with my custom made 2 stage foams, I wll find out how well they work this weekend at the comp I am going to on Sunday, I'm running 8.5oz in each front wheel and 4.5oz in each rear wheel, here is a pick of my foamos that I fabed up using the stock Rover foam with Proline soft memory foam wrapped around the outside...

And one all mounted up with the 2 stage foam I made...

How well did this work out? I might go this route if it's good.

Also, how did you cut the memory foams? Looks like about as straight of a cut as I've ever seen on foams.

I got a dumb question... I just got my HB rovers, and just started to mount them up, and was wondering if there is a certain direction to the tread like the panthers.

I used a good sharp bread knife. My foams dont look quite as good as those but you dont see them anyway;). And they worked amazing for me. Lines I couldnt do were effortless and side hilling the truck topples over sideways before it would lose its line. A+++ On performance I went to these from hammers and there is no comparison.

I realize I'm still pretty new to this scene, however I just replaced my proline hammers on my Scorpion, with the medium Rovers.... Let me just say, night and day difference. I'm running 6 oz of weight in each front and 2 oz in each rear. These 2.2 tires have amazing grip, and side bite. I'm very happy with my upgrade.

Should try the Whites then...

New to Rovers.
Side hilling is awesome. grip on inclines, even with the blue compound does really well. I am hoping the Blue compound will allow room for break-in of the tire and get better the more I use it, like when I ran MOABS(IMO).

the best foams ive found for them is the stock from panthers non mem cut to about 2" wide they do great on side hills , steep climbs and dont squish down that bad with weight , give them a try

Pics? I actually tried this but they seemed too stiff to get good climbing grip. Next is to try and cut channels in them.

So, how did the Rovers do at comps over the weekend folks?

I'm using the stock foams.

let us know if you find the need to stiffen the rear any. Mine did fine until i tried to drive very steep inclines.... the rears would collapse.

Last week I placed 1st and on sunday i place 2nd. I think thats a pretty good improvement considering previously the only people I beat were the dnf's:lol:

As with the blue compound, the whites will get better with use. The Rover is hard to beat, blue or white they will get you on the podium.

I've tried many foam ideas, nothing that lasts like my tricks in the Panthers yet...

Though last night I think I might have found it. Fronts I used 1 stock soft panther (non mem) cut only about 1/2" off the width. Rear is 1 Panther memory foam stock width. Seems to be about what I like in my Panthers...finally.
