HB Rover Review

I'm running a set of the white with stock foam all around and love them. I'm making lines that the hammers never would have made. I ran these tires with the stock Axial wheels and there was a noticible air gap that caused some wadding of the tire. I now have them mounted on a set of Vanquish DH pros' and the narrower wheel seems to squeeze the foam more thus filling the air gap between tire and foam. I like these tires much more mounted on the Vanquish wheels."thumbsup"

I ordered the set off tcs and I thought the page said they're memory foam. Oh well I guess Ill see them when they get here:roll:. If they are the softs I read they are too short for the tire. would it be a good choice to shave like 1/2in. off the outside of the mems I got with my hammers and glue them to the outside of the stock rover foams to fill that gap:?: I really like the way the memory foams perform compared to regular foams.

that's weird that the TCS page said that.. maybe they are being offered with mems now?

I like the air gap. It causes the lugs to grip more. I have run these tires filled with foam, and they didn't work well for me. I suggest you go through some trial & error to find the set-up that works for you and your truck.

I got to try the chisels this weekend on narrow wheels and they seamed to only get better and better, I have rovers with panther mem foams and 1/4 in of stiff foam glued to outside, they work almost too good. They keep getting stuck under ledges and side walls keep climbing instead of sliding on side walls.

I don't see where it says memory foams.

The newest rock crawling tire on the market. The new hot bodies rovers tires measure in at 5.5" tall and 2.25" wide. Is this the next big crawling tire? We believe it is! Hot Bodies first crawler tire release is a winner. 5.5" of tire means more ground clearance under the axles and more traction surface on the ground. Not only due these new tires climb better than any other tire on the market, there side hilling ability is unmatched. Try them for yourself.

Includes: (2) tires and foams.

I just got mine last night from tcs and they don't come w/ memory foam. So far I am pretty impressed with them. I'm running them on a 5.5lbs berg and they do much better than the losi claws. Are they as good as the panthers? Stay tuned.

I read it wrong. I dun raeed goud.;-) Got thdem today and am gonna run them on my axial wheels stock at first to have a good baseline and tweak from there."thumbsup"

I'm running the whites but I'm using memory foam and I took the stock foam that came with them and trimmed a strip about 1/4 inch thick and lined it to fill the air gap the memory foam that I used was white ish yellow. They hook up on everything. "thumbsup"

Also you can get them from RPP in Ukiah, Ca for $14.99

running blue dot
stock uncut foams
7oz front 3oz out rear
Narrowed axial bead locks

terrain:
gnarly ocean front mono-rock
jaged with good climbs and narrow obstacles
wet most of the time

These tires are working really well for me. They keep a good sidewall on angles. Wet traction is important up here in the NW and they are exceling. sidehills seem to be holding quite well. i have had about 3 hours of run time and they just seem to be getting better as they break in. I have replaced my older M2 badlands with these.

:lol:I did it the oposite way We'll see who's works better.;-)

I ran these tires at a place where I have run claws and panthers both on a 4.5lbs axial and a 5.5lbs berg. I just used the stock foam they come with and these tires were impressive. They went up inclines and held lines neither the claws or panthers would. I've always thought memory foam was the only way to go but these tires do really well w/ the stock foam. Both claws and panthers had memory foam and the panthers had memory foam w/ some re-enforced foam on the sides to prevent them from balling up. So I guess you can say I'm a fan. The only downside is that the increased diameter raised my CG and I lost 2 degrees on my incline test. So I will be working to get that back.

I tacked a set of these on to my order from RPP this week (getting an FXR - wooo :)) - I just couldn't pass up the 14.99 per pair.

...And since I'm technically in the Pacific Northwest (though the Canadian part, which is, of course, better :flipoff:) and I think our weather (feckin' wet) and our terrain (Rockies/Coast Mountains) is pretty damn similar to yours down there...

...So your post just made my effin' day. "thumbsup" Can't wait to get 'em on and try 'em out.

How much did you narrow your rims, by the way?

my rims are roughly 3/8'' narrower. you will have to jog my memory on how much that is in retard, oh i mean canadian. eh? :flipoff:it helps fill the tire with foam almost bows them out a little filling it completely. trust me you wont be disappointed in them at all.

Cool. Thanks. "thumbsup" I've been contemplating narrowing my rims, and 9.525 millimetres does sound like a good number. :flipoff:

I just mounted a set with those pro-line foams. The sidewall is pretty stiff with them. A little stiffer than stock. What I like is the taller foam fills out the tire a touch more (not too much IMO) and is still pretty soft.

I have not run them...just mounted them tonight. But I like the way the look on the bench so far...

HA its killing me not to be able to run my truck. I was waiting for the tires to come in. and I went crawling wed. night and dropped my truck off a shelf during a run and bent the rear half of my chassis and broke and bent a bunch on suspension links. And then the tires came the next morning.:-( Now I gotta wait till next week some time to get my new reinforced chassis plates from the laser cutter man. so the last few days Ive just been rolling the tire over stuff making engine noises to keep myself happy.;-)

everbody seems to like there hb rovers so any advise would be helful. i'm disapointed with mine. i have the white compound. i've tried memory foam and stock ones and different weights from 6 oz to 16oz in the front and no weight to 8 oz in the rear no luck for me. i all so tryed purpel power and simply green cleaner still not much forward bite all so tried them in both directions.

I love mine, better than the Rock Claws that i had many hours on. On MY white dots i run 6 oz in front and 1.5 in rear at the moment, with some TALL memory foams. They just hookup awesome down here in GA. Good Luck with yours, do you have your setup vented? IF not, that will help a lot.
