HB Rover Review

I dont see why that isnt a great idea, but yea, thats me. lol

i sealed my rims up so that there is some air pressure in the tire, and these sidhill better than my original claws.

This is an interesting idea instead of trying to figure out some sort of magic foam setup. Anyone else run non-vented wheels?

Got my Rover whites and new Axial rims.

Man, there really seems to be a huge air gap with lots of slack rubber on the outside of the tire with the stock foams and these rims. I would think climbing would cause lots of tread fold over.

Are narrower rims a must with these stock foams?

i didnt think so, but a lot of folks run custom cut foams to fill out the tire, or like an oversized memory foam.

mine only fold over when i get them sucked into a hole.

im currently lookin around to find the biggest yet super softest mem. foams for my second set of rovers.

ive had them for about 2 months of hard wheel spinning goodness.

i just got a dig and flipped my tires around for a lil more bite. but in a week or so ill get a new set.

dude, they "HB_HPI" just grabbed what they had on hand to get the tire it self out to the consumers. They offer a great tire but just like a cd with a few bad "tape-filler-songs", just threw what they could in with the tires. they knew we'd all buy other foams and such anyway, i mean who really stays stock?

the foams i thought of getting where the proline 2.2 taller foams:

dude, i compared those prolines to the stock foams @ an LHS this weekend, another type of proline OVERSIZED foams are the sam size as the stock foams.

these didnt have the black ring in the middle though

i was walking to the counter w/ the mem. foams and saw a pack of rovers. glad i stopped to check.

We're getting great results with 1 1/2 pro-line memory foams in the front and star cut f400s in the back. My girlfriend runs these (my old ones) on her rig, and they do well. they are just to damn big for me. Nice tire, though.

beel, really? the site says they're 5.5". sure you grabbed the right pack? they have three foams. standard, mem oversized and the two part oversized. hmmm...sounds like a call to pro-line should be made.

besides, was at my lhs, the best in the area, concord hobby town, and looked at the oversized, they're a perfect fit.

they were a diff foam.

but they said OVERSIZED real big on the package for 5.1-5.5' tires, but had no actual dimetions of the foams.

i wish i could see a set of those ones you posted.

the only thing i dont like is when they get sucked in a gap. if mine were just a tad less "Squishy" they'd be perfect.

im still a relative newb looking for that gloden combo lol

one thing i've seen done and might try my self is coating the outside of the foam with silicone, GE2 type. just a thin layer to coat the side wall area of the foam. this helped stop that sucked in - folding issue.

they're big alright. the overside pro-line foams.

I know minor already knows my setup, but I'm running the vanquish foams up front, gbmbg/yellow ins. /Chisel mem foam on the rears. My junk is a porker at 7.3 lbs. haven't had too many problems wirh folding or sidehills, except on bad binds, but I can pop out of alot of them.

i had the grabbers before the rovers and the rover foams did not fill the tire. they were wider than tall. i put the grapper foams in my rovers and the tire is narrower taller and firmer the whole way around:idea:

I put the HPI Grabber foams in my Chisels. Working out pretty good but I am about to change them.

Speaking of Rover foams. I just ordered the 5.5" x 3" Ace Doughnuts, enough for my Rovers and Chisels.
I am not liking my NWTT's all weathers anymore. Too bouncy and they are folding.
I have heard good things about the Ace Doughnuts in Rovers (well hours of searching I came to this foam decision).

This is what I was hoping for when I ordered the Rovers; a taller narrower tire but the stock foams really don't produce that effect at all. They turned out short, floppy and fat. :-( Where's that thread on making your own Walmart foams again?

Yah the Ace Doughnuts work real well in the Rovers.

My buddy is using that set up on his berg and he loves it.

I have had the chance to run his rig a couple times, and it will crawl some real hairy lines with little effort.

Me myself though I am running the Pro Line two stage foams in my Chisels and they are awesome IMO..

I have heard some guys are running the pro line two stages in their Rovers and are liking that set up pretty well. They are oversize foams so they produce the taller, narrower look you guys are describing."thumbsup"

just use a tomato can, the large ones and press it into the foam so it's flat, trace the outside with a sharp razor and poor!, then trace tomato past can just be sure your centered.

a tomato can is a bit small for 5.5's though but you get the gist of it. be sure though that you do this on a flat surface that you don't mind cutting into.

take the right sized round can or such, I'm thinking an oil can, the round ones are closer to the 5.5" then the 28 oz tomato can but moving forward. set the can on the foam, with you one hand press the can down to compress the foam nice and flat, as possible as you can, and using a razor, think utility knife blade, cut the circumference of the can into the foam pressing enough to cut all the way through. think like a cooking maker.
