rovers just took a win at the 2009 SARCCA winter shootout. in fact, of the top five, four were rovers if i am not mistaken.

I think the Rovers are the new Claws. They seem to be gaining popularity like the Claws did over a year ago. Similar tread, similar grip... but bigger size and softer compound.
Aside from foam set up issues, they are my favorite since the Claws. "thumbsup"

seems like there are people who like one or the other better. The compound on the HPI's is the same as the medium rovers (HPI owns HB), so the soft rovers should be stickier. I have both soft rovers and the HPI's and actually like the HPI better. The rovers are TOO soft and ball up easily. I managed to get them to work by stuffing them full of foam, but they still ball up a bit. the HPI tires have more internal ribbing and just work better for me. But i still feel that on some rigs that may not hold true.

Foam selection is really important with the HBs. I've been screwing it up for 2 months now. Too hard, too soft... and making truck changes at the same time as foam changes...
I agree the stock foam is perfect on a light rig. Too stiff and they don't grab well. I don't think memory foam is the best choice for these either, and if you stuff them too full, the tire gets really tall and skinny.
Try Axial standard foam with about 1/4 inch strip around the outside. Stiffer than HB stock and still grippy. "thumbsup"

actually my rig is well under 7lbs. I tried everything from TCS reach foams, to stock foams, to stock HPI foams, to stock Axial foams. The only ones i could get to perform were stock HB foams with a 1/2 thickness strip of TCS all weathers on top of that.

I am running whites all around stock foams n DNA assassins, with 8 ozs up front and 3 in the rear. I noticed when I stuck the stick on weights inside my rims in pushed the foams out upfront getting rid of most the air gap. Not sure if its a good thing or bad. Well I will see this weekend. Any thoughts ? thanks
front Full stock foams with a 1/2" of another stock HB foam for added support

Too hard of a foam in the back will make the tires not grip as stated above.

ya im still waiting for some chisles to come in at my lhs im fine with my foam setup right now, but the foams that come in the chisels seem like a really good option for these tires

The front stock foams. are those the mems that come with it? I just ordered a set of 4 for my truck and am lookin to see what is the best/cheapest way to get these meats dialed in.

In whites up front I have HB outers with 1/10th scale buggy foam inerds. In the rear its stock Losi foam from the claws. Works quite well."thumbsup"

Just wondering if anyone is getting better traction with the front tires "backwards"? It seems to me that running the fronts backwards on my rig helps the front end bite down more. I have tried the same little hill in the same conditions with different tires and different configurations and the Rovers backwards on the front works the best by far.

I ordered the set off tcs and I thought the page said they're memory foam. Oh well I guess Ill see them when they get here:roll:. If they are the softs I read they are too short for the tire. would it be a good choice to shave like 1/2in. off the outside of the mems I got with my hammers and glue them to the outside of the stock rover foams to fill that gap:?: I really like the way the memory foams perform compared to regular foams.
