Have tech questions? Will answer.

I want to know how to reverse the rotation of a holmes puller 500 brushed motor? Can i just loosen the the screws and rotate it 180 like with the crawlmaster pro motors? Or do i have to completely remove the endbell and install it 180? I know i can just switch the wires, but i like my wiring to be proper.
If you want to be proper, when you resolder the wires you do it pinkies out!

You can solder the wires in reverse, you can rotate the endbell 180°, or you can program the ESC to run the motor in reverse. Personally I prefer to rotate the endbell 180°, so I won't be confused years from now if I have to replace an ESC and suddenly my truck starts running backwards.

He could swap the colored piece to the other side, but he couldn't swap the molded-in '+' sign next to the positive terminal. Better to just rotate the endbell 180° if you're the detail-oriented type.

Brushless HH PP reverse running.

So I was fine tuning all of the settings on my Capra for the very first time tonight and I forgot its a reverse running motor. I am running a HH PP 2700kV sensored set up with a Mamba X. I have heard the HH PP don't run as smooth in reverse setups but regardless what is the best possible way to reverse the direction? I think running a sensored set up my only option is the Transmitter or to reverse it in the Mamba X programming? Am I missing any option? Thank you.

How would a HH Puller Pro 2200kv do in a Trx4 sport paired with either a Mamba x or a Mamba micro running 3s? I’ve never had brushless in a crawler and might take a crack at it since the v1 pullers are on sale.

It would do splendidly.

2200kv is pretty close to the stock 21T motor to give you an idea of the top end. The big difference would be more torque, lower motor temps, and longer run time.

I would go Mamba X over the Micro X for the better BEC and the fact it will stay cooler running in a relatively heavy truck.

Never reverse it on the tx, in this case reverse it on the esc.

Reverseing it on the transmitters conflict with some of the esc settings that are only designed for forward movement.

I see they have the 2700kv in stock now. I might got with that for the middle of the road speed on 3s.

Not always true my futaba tx has to be set to throttle reverse when using a castle esc. You need to make sure the led on the esc is green when the tx throttle is held for forward movement and red in reverse. If the truck works backwards I then go in the esc and reverse the throttle.

How many times does this question need to be answered on this very page of this very thread?

Futaba has been in the RC game for a long time and does things their own way. If Futaba wants to indicate throttle position using a PWM signal that is the opposite of what everyone else uses...well...nobody can make Futaba change their minds at this point. As for pretty much everyone not running a Futaba radio, the problem of a reversed PWM signal won't apply.

kV change vs.pinion size

Is there a general rule of thumb regarding pinion gear sizing when changing motor kV? Say for like every 500kV added or removed you add or subtract 1 tooth from your pinion size? Obviously it would just be a starting point but I just wondered if such a relationship has been established or not? Thank you, Ed
