Have tech questions? Will answer.

Sorry for the noob questions but will a scx10 ii need to be modified to fit a trail master 550 21t or crawlmaster 550 10t? Or would a torque master 540 21t or crawlmaster 540 11t be a better fit? Or any other recommended Holmes motors?
Thanks again for the help!

Hi Mr. Holmes,

I've been slowly building a UMG-10 with a Trailmaster BLE Pro and one of your brushless motors in it. I'm running a 3s lipo and a Castle BEC feeding power to one of your burly servos.
The issue I'm having is that starting out moving forward is smooth like butter, but starting out in reverse is real punchy. It accelerates very quickly making fine adjustments on the rocks difficult to do without shooting backwards too far.
I've been playing around with the Castle Link trying to adjust things, but this is the first programmable speed controller I've really used, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing.
Mostly I've been adjusting the throttle and brake curves (I don't recall the exact name of them)

Could you point me in the direction of a tutorial or something of that nature? Possibly a link to the settings you like?

Thank you for all the stuff you do for the hobby, and I'm looking forward to trying your new in-house speed control some day.

Just installed the AXE 550 3300 in a TRX4 running the stock 5 channel radio. I have done the pairing to the motor. But I still have no throttle in F/R and get a flashing red light any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Seems like it might be a Traxxas radio issue with the setup?

What motor, and radio? I would assume the radio is 70/30 throw and just super sensitive.

I'm not familiar with the axe arming enough to help, sorry. Maybe neutral trim, although I dont know how to adjust that on the trx radio either

It's a Trailmaster Pro for sure, I think 3300Kv - It's been a while since I bought it and I need to verify the KV.
The radio is a Spektrum DX5 Rugged. I didn't even think about the fact that it might not be a 50/50 throttle out of the box. I'll look into that this evening.

Thank you

My mistake, it's a 2200kv motor in there.
I haven't found a setting in the transmitter to switch modes from 70/30 to 50/50. I'll keep digging, but I'm not sure that's an option on this one.

The light flashes red when there is throttle input, try setting trims to zero and do a calibration, which is not the same as pairing.

Handy gearing spreadsheet

Fake holmes hobbies motors?
Hi guys,
I purchased two hh trailmaster 550 sport motors off ebay.
They look pretty legit however they don't seem to have a bearing in the output of the shaft.
Looks like a bushing to me.
The package also had dark green logo not black.
Has any one heard of this before?
And the packaging for the motor should have black printing yeah?

Was it a legit seller or something like "FlyByNightChinaSales"?

I was curious so I started poking around on Ebay -- I don't know if this is the same seller, but Holmes Hobbies motors shipping directly from Hong Kong seems a bit strange.
