HH Revolver Question...

Looking at 540 1800kv revolvers, what is the difference between the 'normal' revolver and the snub nose revolver (other than form-factor)?

You'll be better able to move a heavier rig around, more torque with the larger can size.

My Bomber is a lard-ass with too much metal, and the larger non-v2 1800kv has no problem with it at all, even on 3S (I do sometimes go nuts on 4S).

It's the same as the relationship between the 540 Puller Pro and the Stubby - and a 540-can brushed and a 550-can brushed.

A bigger can will provide more torque, all else being equal.

Personally, I'd use a standard size in practically any application that I can think of.

Hey John, I went to install my new 12T Crawlmaster in my TRX4 Sport, and I had to take the motor off of the motor plate, and this happened to the screw holes (at 12 and 6 o'clock). The screws won't go back in. Should I use a drill bit to drill it out?

I could use the other holes, but then one of the wires will be on the bottom (at 6 o'clock). I fear that the wire connection could get hit by a rock.

What should I do? Thanks.

Aloha from Oahu, this may end up in the newbie section but I can't seem to find an answer. I have a capra rtr and am starting to upgrade. I put a set of ssd wheels with the ssd brass wheel weights on yesterday and now the rig keeps shutting down. It runs at full power for about 5 min then cuts power to about 25% then stops all together. If i unplug the battery it will run at full power for about 30sec then shut down again. Is the weight of the metal wheels and wheel weights to much for the ESC? any help would be great. Thanks.

What they said about revolvers

Be sure your wheels arent binding. There should be a hair of room between hex and bearing. Maybe roll the rig around, then loosen wheels and see if it rolls easier.

Good evening JRH,

What are your thoughts on the Lil Tugger in a small class 1 rig? I really want a Puller 400 but if I can save $25....

Are you trying to save weight? That's what this puller motor does. You get a shorter armature then a 540 but it's hand wound. I imagine the feel is a bit like a 540 trailmaster sport, but it weighs less.

I mean it just looks cool too.

Handy gearing spreadsheet

Startup wont be as smooth as I like for competing, but honestly still very usable and has fantastic drag and torque. That's really why they are lower cost, not as refined armature. Once you wear out the arm you can get a normal puller 400 arm and convert it. Housing is the same

Hello JRH. I've recently invested in a TRX sport hybrid (2 spd, no lockers), and per recomendation, placed a 550 21T crawlmaster. With a 13T pinion..it's fast in second gear.. but gets warm. i still haven't tried it for a longer run.. but I plan on tkaing my IC thermometer with me. What is the normaln temperature that these motors can take? I have ordered a 9T pinnion just to be on the safe side.. but if it's normal for the motor to get somewhat hot.. let it be...

johnrobholmes,
I am looking for a recommendation for a new motor in my scx10 ii Honcho that will have more wheel spin. Trying to compete with my sons trx4 sport with the Titan 550. I would like a motor that could keep up when we go on trail runs. (Jogging)

Thanks

Find a way to fit a trailmaster Sport 550 21T and you can beat his traxxas 21T [emoji41]

If my Losi BAJA REY has a final drive ratio of 10.99:1 with a 13 tooth pinion (from horizon web site) Does anyone know how I would recalculate it with a 10 tooth pinion? Thank you very much, Ed

Shoehorn a 21t 550 in, or 27t 540

11 x 13 / 10 = 14.3
