Have tech questions? Will answer.

My goal is to run a single servo off 2 different channels. I want to use my channel 3 (push button by my thumb) to get into my dig and lock the rear wheels. Then use channel 4 to get the dig servo into neutral.

I don't know if the channels are constantly putting out signals or only when they are being used? Maybe Ill need a diode to keep the signals from back feeding? I was just wondering if anyone has tried it or knows if it will work/wont work and what needs to be done.

couldnt you just mod the transmitter channel switch with a toggle switch?
you could do a return center center toggle switch and add resistors to it so it knows to return to center.

if I hear you correctly, you are selecting a ch to tell the servo to do function A, but using another ch to make servo to do function B, so how is A going to allow that while A signal is telling it to stay in that position.

sounds similiar to the traxxas TX3 3rd channel mod. it was a two position switch but we modded it so that pressing 1 button makes server turn clockwise, release button and it return to center, push 2 button and it turns counter clocks wise.
is that what you want? unknown what your locker is.

Hi,

Is a good idea to “seal” the sensor port using this glue?

I use it to seal my radio box and when I need to remove it don’t leave any residue and is easy to peel off.

Thanks

How about good old fashioned electrical tape? Holds well enough, is fairly waterproof, and it's a lot easier to remove when you need to.

Hi John

Question

I have your BR XL Dual ESC's and want to know why are folks adding a BEC for there servo .
when your ESC already provides " 5 amp 6 volt on board switchmode BEC delivers unbelievable servo power at any input voltage. "

Do I really need one?

Also, what are the dangers of removing the heat sinks? are there instructions/video on how to strip down the esc's to make them compact?

Thank YOu

Anyone?

Hi all, fine tuning my setup..
CC Sidewinder 4
HH Revolver V2 1800kv
3s lipo

When I enable drag brake (30%) the slow speed crawl is not as smooth/predictable as when I have drag brake disabled. Even the sound of the outrunner motor is different with drag brake enabled, only on startup as if drag brake is causing more resistance when just starting off. Hard to explain, I can take a video if needed. Is this normal?

What mix(es) do I need for a dual motor/esc application? Getting a bully 2 asap.

Been n2 something rc since 1981. The MOA is new to me, not the hobby. Setting up dual esc IS new.

(Sorry for the typos. I really NEED bifocals, but NO!)

I used the stock dig, switched it out to a BRMD, my Futaba 4PLS does the mix by setting it up.Calibrate and drive.

Hang up and Drive

I'm getting hesitation in my e Revo and no reverse and then it kind of comes out of it don't have full power and then all of a sudden full power stop still no reverse reverse reverse then it has hesitates again I calibrated it but wasn't able to take it outside try driving around the basement a little seem to be better but not completely could it just be cell phone interruption I have bad signal so my phone is always searching I was told that is potentially the problem anybody have an idea

My question is in reference to the proper power supply output voltage setting. I have a Muchmore Power Master 24amp supply and a Protek Prodigy 610 charger. The power supply has adjustable output voltage from 11-18v and my charger is capable of input voltage from 11-18v so the question is what voltage should I set my power supply to? Thx

Hi john,
Thanks for helping us all out. Much appreciated.
I built a rig 10 years ago that I’m finally going to finish. It’s a beast at 2 feet long with clodbuster axles and 7” tires.
At the time I was planning on using a spektrum dx6 tx. I think I want to stay away from a stick setup though. New tx suggestions?

I definitely want 4 wheel steering capabilities. Can’t decide if dig is a necessity as I will mostly be taking it in the swampy areas and some rock crawling.
What esc motor combo is best? Waterproof everything is a must.
I built another crawler at that time with the Novak rooster. What is a new setup like that these days?

Was thinking of running 6s?

And I also want to get some high torque waterproof servos. Suggestions?

Thanks again so much

I am building a TRX$ Sport- I really like your videos- NOW do I get the 550 Trailmaster Sport or the Crawlmaster? I'm not into competition but enjoy crawling and some trail running- and 27T or???? Thanks- Vic in SoCal

In my SCX10.2 I have one Tekin T35 HD Rock Crawler brushed motor.

What’s equivalent of your motors?

Thanks!

I vote for the CrawlMaster which is a smoother motor. It's a 5-slot so the turns are different, but a 16T is similar to a 35T. If you want faster than get the 13T.

Couple questions.

-What is a Holmes Hobbies 540 30T designed for? I don't know what G6 means.

My local shop sold me a Holmes Hobbies 540 30T. After doing a bit of research, I am stoked to have such a good product.

I am building a Traxxas TR4 Sport kit. I am going to crawl with it but also just be-bop around with it when in the desert. Not looking to compete just have fun with it.

One thing I noted was the motor shaft was too short to mount the pinion wheel as suggested. I flipped the pinion wheel around and it actually lined up perfect with the tranny wheel. Is this ok? No contact with motor case but very slight distance.

-What should I expect in driving performance from the 540 30T? I am pairing it with a HobbyWing Quicrun 1080 and a Savox 1210 Servo. My son has the Sport prebuilt and it has a Titan 550 27T. What is the big difference between his motor and mine from performance perspective?

Thanks

I have an SCX10.2 I wanted the ability to run 4S. So I put in a AE2 with a BEC. I know the ESC can handle it because I did it for years with my OG Honcho, but never with the stock 27T. It was either with a Tekin 35T or 45T. When I run the truck on 3S with the stock Axial 35T is smooth as it can be on startup. Geared 9/56. I put the 4S pack in, the motor is not happy. It’s almost as if it is cogging. What is the issue? The motor not handling the higher voltage?

Working on a dedicated crawler Bomber build and wondering which Holmes brushed motor I should go with. This build is all about low and slow, zero need for speed.

Any advice?

And no, I’m not going brushless. :)

If it's going in a Bomber, do yourself the favor and use a 550 can size for more torque - Bombers are a bit heavier and can use it...

Either a 5-slot Crawlmaster as mentioned for ultimate smoothness from throttle tip-in, or a Trailmaster 3-slot for a little extra punch down low.

For the Crawlmaster, I recommend 12-turn - for the Trailmaster 21-turn.

Works out to about 1700kv-1800kv, the sweet spot for 3S and stock Bomber gearing.

I am having a problem my motor isn't turning properly it barely spins and stops and my rc won't move is this a motor problem or a ESC probably i have pulled the motor and watched the pinnion gear and it will bare even turn a full cycle and stop then repeat over and over please help it's a vanguard 3150 kv
