GT3B Hack Question and Answer Thread

LosiKid,
Hello, A member from URC suggested I get ahold of you. I have a FS-GT3B and need to find out if I can have channel 3 made to where I have adjustable end points. If this can be done please PM me with the cost.
Thank you....

losikid - Do you know when you will have some hacked GT3C radios in stock? Your website shows none available.

Thanks.

Hi, losikid. I'm having some issues with my gt3b on my nitro LST
- can't set the end point for left steering. When I turn the wheel left, the corespondent arrow on the screen won't appear.
- when I activate ABS, the servo is starting to move accordingly to fast/normal/slow. This movement stops only when I trim the throttle to 50% or something
- the third channel don't work at all

Any help will be appreciate. Thanks

Have you Calibrated the controller?

Calibration Procedure (you will need a volt meter)

To enter menu turn radio on, turn wheel full right then press and hold enter.
Its also displays right after you flash a new firmware...from stock firmware

With the 1 displayed on your left
Hold ST Wheel full left till numbers stop moving,
Press enter
Let ST Wheel center, once numbers stop changing
press enter
Turn wheel full right, once numbers stop changing
press enter

Now turn the enter button till 2 is displayed on your left

Hold trigger full throttle, let numbers stabilize
press enter
Let trigger center, let numbers stabilize
press enter
push trigger full reverse, let numbers stabilize
Press enter

now scroll to 4

with a volt meter measure your current battery voltage
press enter (while 4 is displayed)
Now scroll to the voltage your volt mete read
press enter

Now press and hold enter till you exit the calibration menu.

You need to calibrate your radio. See the post above for the procedure.

I can understand this for a car with esc, but Is this necessary even for nitro?

You need to calibrate the radio ADCs for the radio itself AFTER flashing the firmware. It has nothing to do with RC control.

Your calibrating the voltage drop at the POT to the digital value read by the microcontroller based on position of the channel.

Hey guys. Newb alert here. I have a Traxxas Summit that I want to use one of these hacked radios with. But I have a few questions first before I pull the trigger:

-First off I think I will get the Flysky GT3C : obviously this same firmware works on it from what I have read...right? There is no GT3B and GT3C version? Same one for both?

-You can program the buttons to be on-offs right? So control for my shift servo, and two locking servos would just be a button press? And then press it again to turn it off? Simple? Min to max servo value and then back again?

-4ws is the main reason I want this. I have tried to look around and see if I can answer this question but I can't. I believe I saw a youtube video that had you changing between 2ws, 4ws, and Rear Wheel steer via changing the % of something. Is it possible to just press a button or have a three way switch to toggle between 2ws-4ws-Crab? From what I gather it looks like you can alternate between 2ws and 4ws and then press another button to change between normal/crab?

-These radios output ppm? I eventually wanna put a OpenLRS module on it for FPV but that is way in the future. My main question is concerning how you control the 4ws.

Thanks alot! Thanks to losikid as he seems to be the main guy here!

Hey,
I have a radio that is flashed with much older firmware it has 6 available channels. My father bought a radio last year and I have several friends that have purchased them recently and for some reason they seem to be flashed with only 3 channels available. Am I missing something here or are they not available with up to 6 channels anymore?

The reason I ask is my C3 is running 4ws and a winch. This requires 4 channels to get it done.

Ch1 Front steer
Ch2 ESC
Ch3 Rear steer on a 3 position switch (Run from the Ch 3 Trim Key)
CH4 Winch on a 3 position switch (Run from the D/R key)

I know that there is a 4ws mix, and I have run that way before but I prefer the 3 position switch. Any ideas?

Select name and long press enter. You can then select the number of channels for that RC.
Here I'm using 5

Yes, You can toggle between two set values.

Yes. I had a 4ws Venom Creeper. I programmed the third channel trim so I had front steer only - 4ws - reverse steer only. I just can't remember the way I did it.

Right on so it is possible! I thought it would be dumb to toggle between percentages to get things working right. Well I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get one of these radios

I wish I could help you with how exactly I did it. That was a long time ago. I don't think I actually used the 4ws option in the radio settings to accomplish it....if I remember correctly. Your going to have to play with it.

I did have my rear steering servo plugged into the third channel.... Which may be obvious...

Ok, I've done the calibration and the problem with acc/brake servo is solved, no more movement when abs is on. However the third channel is not working as it suppose to work. When I'm in end point menu, everything is ok, the servo is responding as it should do, on/off/fwd/rev and possible to set the end point. But when I'm in normal working mode the servo is not responding at all. I shoot a video to be more clear, but it will take a while to upload on youtube. Any ideas till then?

PS I just noticed that ch3 trim changes the values of ch1. Maybe this mean something to you

You don't have anything assigned to control channel 3.

See page two

I think I'm doing something wrong. Scrolled to REV/long enter, scroll to 3/enter and assigned ch3/long enter. Is there something else or am I doing something wrong?
