Exceed mad torque 1/8 to 1/10 scale budget build!

I snapped a better pic of the skid for ya. After I'm all done, I'll scuff it up and paint it black with some Fusion paint.

Great idea! So it just slides over the motor? How tight is the fit?

Depending on where you cut it (how much more than half) it will fit pretty snug. Rocks scraping against it won't move it. They're cheap so buy some extras to experiment with. I went through 4 before I hit the sweet spot. If it's done just right it will snap right on. Acts as a heat sink as well. Bonus!

What exactly do you mean "snap right on"? What terrain do u drive on mostly? My motors and axle housings took a lot of abuse without skid plates in the rock areas I crawl at. Good to know it acts as a heat sink I was gonna ask about that also.

It's hard to explain, but since the nipple is cut in two pieces, one slightly more than in half, if you push it against the motor, it will spread and "snap" onto the motor, clamping on to it. You'll see what I mean if you try it. Or I can take some pics tomorrow for ya.

I think I know what you mean but if lookin a few pics first couldn't hurt. I think how you've done it looks clean and should be very functional. One thing I like about my skids is that it helps driving through dense grass and debris. Kinda just plows through it. Also keeps most dirt and mud away from the motor. I clogged my rear motor the first time I went through the mud after I got my truck.

Ramsey77 are the alum parts you have on your rig the exceed upgrade parts or another brand?
Also how do you have your tx/rx set up? Do you have channel mixing?

Not sure what you mean by upgrade parts. I used some old Axial lower links to mock up the wheelbase, then I cut and milled the stock links to that measurement. And then on the uppers, I removed the plastic part that holds the "Y" together and used STRC aluminum pieces for the AX10. Most everything else is stock. What pieces were you referring to?

EDIT: I forgot to address your question about my radio: It's awesome. It has an MOA setting built right in. I have throttle mixing for front/rear digs, and four modes for the steering. Airtronics doesn't make a bad product, they all work great, and have unbelievable range. Highly recommend the MT-4, it's a great value at $200 considering what it's capable of.

Here are some pics of the motor guard:

Cut just a bit more than halfway so it wraps around the motor and holds it:

This is one of my goofs. I didn't leave enough material to hold it firmly, but you get the idea here:

Now just push it on, it will "snap" on to the motor:

Ok I get how to do it now. The upgrades I was referring to were mostly your knuckles and links. You basically answered the question. Good info on the radio too.

Where did you find the alum nipples? I looked at home depot and a local hardware store and only found stainless, galvanized or black steel.

Hardware store should be able to order them for you. I wonder why they don't have them? And thanks for the compliments. I think the orange deadbolt body was a no brainer for this truck.

I'll have to check a few more places. Ya the db body matches the stock anodized parts great.
