After contemplating whether or not to build another trail rig, I finally decided it was time. However, in order to build another rig my other rc had to donate the running gear. So while trying to find a buyer for the old body and chassis metal work begins. My previous rc was a cj5 that built about a year and was driven hard. Custom all steel body, 1/2 in square tube frame, bandsaw leaf springs, and so on made up my ride. Weighing in at around 10.5 lbs, the jeep was a little on the heavy side and not as agile as I would've liked :lmao:
I wanted to build my dream flat fender. Even though I am going to sacrifice a little wheel base, I hope to have a more capable vehicle than my last. The body is being built from thin sheet steel from an old appliance that was being thrown away. Frame rails are 1/2 in square tube that was bent and cut down the middle.
Just like my CJ5 build, leaf springs were made from an old portable bandsaw blade that I cut up. Wheels are 1.9 Rc4wd steelies while the tires are 1.55 rock stompers which have been cut and glued for a little more height.
Progress will be slow due to being at college, but I hope to get some more done MLK weekend. Thanks for checking it guys "thumbsup"
