Dlux presents the Red Rock Rumble 11/6/15 - 11/8/15

I personally have never been to comps in St. George so I can say Pioneer park is new, and works for me!"thumbsup"

At the end of this month I will be camping for a week in Bryce canyon, if I see anything interesting I can collect data and let you know, I'm not talking about national park stuff, that's kinda tough to get i am sure, but I have been in that area times before and I remember lots of awesome rock off highway 12, I will keep my eyes peeled Erik!"thumbsup"

Thanks Juan!

If anybody knows a great spot for a comp, let me know. Nothing is set is stone at this point.

I finally got a hold of the city of St. G to get permission to use Pioneer park. They were pretty vague on whether or not they want us there so.... I think I am having a change of heart.

A lot of the reason I was excited about this comp was because it was going to be on red rock, not something that you drive on very often. Looks like Worlds is now going to be on red rock, just a couple months before so that kinda takes the wind out of that sail. Put that on top of not being able to find a fresh location and the city not being very welcoming, I am thinking of moving it.

A short distance up I-15 is Ceder city. They have 3 peaks recreation area where there is tons of rock, no issues with parking, tons of camping, toilets, pavilion etc,. Its not red rock, but its still pretty cool.

Just wanted to update where I am at with the comp and its location. Still up for suggestions if anybody has some...

City of StG doesn't seem to want to help anyone....

I went to scale champs at 3 peaks and that place was close to endless. We all stayed at the hotel right off the exit (I can find exacts if you want) and it was really nice and only 20min from the site.
I would deff go again if you had the comp out there. Heck I'll bring extra cones for the scalers and U4 rigs to hack it up.

What about area 51 in St George or are you just wanting to stay out of St George now?

Never knew about Area 51. Looks like it could be a great spot! Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!

Now I just need to find time to get out there and check it out. Looks to be BLM land too, which is great!

Its not BLM, it is owned by a private school and city. The utah boys spent almost a year trying to get the OK to have scale champs there and ended up using Cedar city.
We crawl there all the time, people climb rocks, others paintball - but as soon as you charge people I guess the fuss starts.

If I look at the BLM map, it only shows a very small portion of that rock being private. Is there only one viable spot to crawl?

Not charging would not be a big deal at all. Really, all I usually try to cover is the cost of the trophies and lunch or whatever. Lunch does not need to happen and trophies can be worked around.

Have you looked at Gooseberry Mesa in Hurricane or Little Creek Mesa

I have not. I dont know much about the area.

Have you been there? A quick google search shows a lot of dirt but some rock?

Really, we need a place where we can park and have rock close by. If these seem like they fit the bill, let me know. I will probably make a trip down before too long to scout some more areas. As I said before, it just makes it really, really hard to look for spots when youre on limited time. I didnt get to see much last time I was down there and I still spent hours in the car.

I've never heard what is and isn't, just know from the utah boys amd scale champs that it was a year of the city screwing around on them.
That area is HUGE, the word endless comes to mind.

Ok time to start thinking about this. who is interested in coming. Need to start a drivers list.

Yep, who is up for this still? I know I am.

I was not able to find a great spot in St. G and I am thinking we all got our fill of red rock this last weekend so I am leaning really hard on Ceder city. The city wants us there, its great rock with amenities.

Oh, and I am thinking this will be a 100% free comp. I will put up the cost of trophies (provided we have a big enough turn out). There should not be any other costs involved so we should be good. "thumbsup"

I would pay a little bit to have a group lunch delivered on Sat if we choose to go that way.

its been so long since I've been to Cedar City I can't remember whats there.

I think we can run through all the courses and go out to a late lunch with everyone. that realy makes it fun with great friends. We can judge each other and get it done early. Buy you dinner for a set of wheels MR DLUX :ror:

Are the dates of 11/6-11/8 still the plan?

If so I'm game. I'm gutting my guest bathroom to studs for a remodel. Hope I stay on track...gotta be done before my daughter comes home for TG break from college.
