Dez's RedCat RS10 reveiw.

what mods have you done any thing i can do thats cheap and easy

Not much at this time. Tires, foams, wheel weight, shock oil and springs.

Hi !

How is the "diffgear" mounted to the outputshaft in the axels ? on my 1/8 redcat crawler i had to fill that gear up with JB-weld to keep it from slipping on the shaft

I haven't opened the axles up yet, but I hope to soon!"thumbsup"

Holy crap! I've never seen Dez speak that long without including the word "liberals". Glad to see the therapy is working...

Oh yeah, pretty good write-up as well. Btw: my boy "crawls" the same way. "thumbsup"

Liberals suck!

I'm sure we all would drive like that if we hadn't been tained w/ comp rules.:-P

Well guys, been really busy w/ my short course truck stuff, but I had a chance to drive the RS10 again yesterday. Nothing serious, but I wanted to see what differences the tires made. Wow is all I can say. Just the tires(and a little weight) made a noticeable improvement to the RS10's crawling ability! Again, this isn't my comp rig, but for the price it is really surprising me! "thumbsup"

W/ the added traction, now power is really lacking. If I get some extra time this week, I'm going to switch over to the speed 400 cobalt motors. I'm sure the cobalt will really wake the RS10 up!

Sounds awesome. I hope the gears can handle those motors!

The gears and the esc holding up will be the test. I agree about the tires and weight adding some extra work for the motors, which make the lack of power evident.

i figured out a way to put 540 motors in mine and i stripped out all of the gears in my front axle just to let you guys know just my .02

I have one of those in my 1.9 TLT crawler. Plenty of wheel speed, it runs a little hot though. I think I need to gear down a little more. You can't beat the price.

Can some one say how these motors run in this truck. My buddie smoked his rear motor and we are looking for somthing to replace it with.

Well the little RS10 is still kicking!

My son loves this little thing.

I have to admit, I wasn't a big fan of the Red Cat crawlers, but the RS10 has really proved to be a great little rig. Again it isn't a comp crawler, but it is a great little rig to have fun w/ on the rocks and for the price, I thing it's a great entry into the sport."thumbsup"

Hey Dez, that cermark link is dead. You wouldn't happen to know some other cheap cobalts that might work? I've been looking for some.

Thanks anyways Dez. I keep looking.
Did you ever finish the CC?

No, it got swallowed in in the project pile and then sold in a bench clearing blowout.

And to be honest, I thing the RS10 is better after you put real tires on them."thumbsup"

NWCrawler, been using the stock ESC w/ a Lipo alarm.

i'll second that tire upgrade recommendation. white rovers improved my rs10 greatly. as for motors, has anyone tried those banebots that folks use for cliff climbers yet? i know they were mentioned in one of the rs10 threads. they might be an improvement over the stock motors for someone who can't find the cobalts
